Events around campus this week

A few events on campus this week to check out:

Tuesday through Friday:

The Clothesline Project is happening in the PUB. Please make sure to support this great cause that brings awareness to domestic violence against women. The project offers those affected a chance to express their emotions by creating a shirt and hanging it on a clothesline for others to see as a testimony to the problems of violence against women.

Wednesday, Oct. 16:

The Japanese Cultural Festival will be taking place in room 3014 (downstairs in the gym). The event is free and will run from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Make sure to come to play Japanese games, try on clothing, learn to make origami figures and watch dance and martial arts demonstrations!

A free workshop for students about bridging ideas with transitions in writing. Head to room 1501 from 1-1:50 for the free workshop!

Thursday, Oct. 17:

The Great Shake Out is happening at 10:17 a.m. for one minute. Join us in preparing for an earthquake by practicing drop, cover and hold on! More information here!

Friday, Oct. 18:

In Her Shoes will be taking place in the Board Room in the 1000 building. In this workshop facilitated by New Beginnings, participants will experience the barriers to leaving an abusive relationship and the difficult decisions that are encountered along the way. This is an excellent workshop for those pondering a career in healthcare, human services and education. Please RSVP to Lynette Peters. Limited to 40 participants.

Talent Show auditions will be taking place from 11:30-3. Applications can be found in the SLC or on Echo. Make sure to show off your talents!
