Blood drive on Thursday, July 31

The Puget Sound Blood Center has been doing well for the first month of summer by keeping their blood inventory at a stable level; however, they have started to struggle in the past couple of weeks. Please, help out by donating this Thursday, July 31 from 10-4 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m. for lunch) in the PUB Quiet Dining Room.

A few facts:

  • 900 blood donors of all blood types are needed every day across Western Washington to support local patients.
  • The recent heat wave closed multiple blood drives due to high temperatures and it will continue to rise until Autumn arrives.
  • Last week’s I-90 Westbound lane restrictions caused many people to work from home or seized the opportunity to head out of town. This means less donors were able to donate and missed opportunities.
  • It’s summer – every blood center across the US struggles during these months.
