Friends and co-workers of Troy Wolf gathered Sept. 18, 2014 on the Shoreline Community College campus to dedicate a granite bench and memorial plaque in his honor.

Wolff, a former English professor at Shoreline, died Sept. 14, 2013 after he and his partner were stabbed in a random attack the previous evening while walking in Seattle’s Pioneer Square area following a Sounders soccer match. His partner survived her injuries. More than 400 people came together on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 to celebrate Wolff’s life.

The bench, located along a quiet path in a tree-lined enclave on the north end of campus, is the result of planning and funding by friends and co-workers of Wolff.

The ceremony included comments from Wolff’s mother, read by Dean of Humanities Kathie Hunt who served as emcee. The ceremony also included the lighting of a candle, poetry from Prof. Ernest Johnson and retried Prof. Ed Harkness as well as comments by President Cheryl Roberts, Acting Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Bob Francis and professors Neal Vasishth and Brooke Zimmers.
