James Collins participated in an open forum on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 as part of the selection process to fill the job of Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Shoreline Community College.
Collins is Assistant Vice Chancellor at the University of California, Merced, a position he’s been in since 2008. He is one of three finalists vying for the position, all of whom went through the same process, including the open forum. Each open forum ran from 2-3 p.m. and took place in the PUB Main Dining Room. Each candidate had the first 20 minutes of the forum to respond to questions that have been suggested by campus community members through an online survey. The remaining 40 minutes were available for answering questions from those attending the forums or other comments by the candidates.
The other candidates included: Peter Lortz, Dean of Math and Science at North Seattle College, who had his forum and other processes on Monday, Sept. 29; and Rebecca Kenney, former Vice President of Instruction at Renton Technical College who was on campus and had her forum on Thursday, Oct. 2.
The forums will be available for viewing on video at the library.
