“The work she did with student veterans was the foundation for Shoreline’s current Veterans Resource Center.   She will always be remembered for the work she did to ensure veteran student success.”

She was born Marjorie Johansen, Sept. 10, 1939 in Manti, Utah to Vernon Peter and Barbara Clark Johansen. She married Clifton Brown Rippon Oct. 30, 1959, and had five children, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She later married Patrick Morgan Higby and they had three beloved dogs, Gus, Maggie and Tippy 2.

Marjorie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She grew up in Heber and Mt. Pleasant and graduated high school from North Sanpete High in 1957. She lived in Nampa, Idaho for six years and then in Kennewick, Wash., for 12 years before moving to the Seattle area. She lived in Mountlake Terrace for more than 30 years and worked at Shoreline Community College with “her” veterans.

She loved to cook, garden, crochet, knit, decorate, and arrange flowers. Her hearth was warm and cozy. Marjorie especially loved to return home each year to Sanpete County in May for Memorial Day.
