Teaching Squares Information Sessions Oct. 5 & 6

Join us Oct. 5 & 6 from 12:00-12:50 p.m. in the Library Conference Room for information sessions on the Teaching Squares program.

This program is open to tenure and tenure-track faculty, associate faculty, instructional and non-instructional faculty who engage in teaching students in a face-to-face environment. Stipend funding is available for three Squares in fall quarter, three Squares in winter quarter and three Squares in Spring quarter.

The purpose of the Teaching Squares program is to improve teaching skills and build community through a non-threatening process of classroom observation and shared reflection. The process involves the best aspects of peer evaluation — observation and discussion — while excluding judgment and evaluation. “Squares” are usually composed of four faculty members from diverse disciplines who observe each other’s classes. Participants in a square learn about the best practices of other faculty in order to improve their own teaching.
