(The following message from President Cheryl Roberts was emailed to all college employees on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015)
Dear Colleague,
As I mentioned in my Fall Convocation remarks, there will always be external conditions before the college and that, “We can’t change the wind, but we can adjust our sails so we reach our common future.”
This summer, the State Board for Community and Technical College (SBCTC) approved a new allocation model that includes a change to how students in our international education program are counted toward our student full-time equivalent (FTE) target.
Currently, we are working with SBCTC staff to better understand the new allocation model and the impact on Shoreline. What we do know is the new allocation will take effective fall of 2016 and our 2015-16 budget remains in place and will not be affected.
We have already been actively directing our efforts to address this new funding model change. This is why the work on our enrollment, strategic planning, and student success initiatives are critical investments to ensure the college achieves our common purpose. We will successfully meet this challenge together with full college engagement and earnestness.
We will hold a College Update conversation at 12:30 p.m., Friday, November 6, in the PUB Main Dining Room to share the new allocation model, the implications for the college, as well as ways all of us can be part of the solution.
Thanks for all you do each day to create an exceptional learning experience for our students!
Cheryl
