Today we greet our morning with solemn hearts after the wake of terror and hatred that was evidenced in the senseless shooting of so many in Orlando. The significant loss of life and wounding of so many others reminds us to resist the continued intolerance demonstrated by these hateful actions. This tragedy will affect each of us differently so know there are services available through our Human Resources office to support you.
As we grieve as a nation, I’m mindful of our own resolve. As a college community, we assert boldly in our Community Standard statement what ‘diminishes one of us diminishes all of us.’ So wherever you are at noon, I hope you will join your colleagues for a moment of silence. And know, we are all part of a common destiny, and as a community, we are clear about what we stand for.
