Events and News
Hi folks,
I hope you all have been well! This last week of course was filled with VPBAS interviews. It was wonderful to meet both candidates and to get feedback from the community. We hope to have an update for folks early next week. Stay tuned!
The big event this week of course was having Representative Kloba come to visit campus on Monday. Board Trustees Chan. Lux, & Ringer joined a handful of us who introduced Representative Kloba to our beautiful campus and programs. We only had an hour and some of us (ehem- me) are a bit verbose, which of course limits time on the tour. She was introduced to Bio-Tech, Nursing, Tesla, Auto, the Benefits hub, the Small Business Development Center, and the Honors program. The presentation to campus itself was excellent and we were so appreciative of the community coming in person to participate in Q&A’s with her. I was so impressed with the great questions asked by students, faculty, and staff. Thank you to Cat Chiappa who coordinated the initial visit and all the folks who helped with the event including: Lori Yonemitsu, Kim Clark, Amy Stapleton, Dalila Paredes, Shannon Ehmke-Reedy, Mary Burroughs, Tesla Faculty (John Henning) Nursing Staff (Joan Riesland, Sharon Lowenborg, and Jim Schulz) and Biotech Staff (Diana Ensenat, Orlando deLange, and Rachel Rawle), Wendy Coates and the Foundation, Ann Garnsey-Harter, Samira Pardanani, Aisha Hauser, Lucas Rucks, Randy Gottfried, Mary Bonar and Shoreline students for providing such wonderful art, Michael Overa and his student for sharing the Honors poster with us, and of course everyone who came to the forum! We will continue to invite our WA State representatives to campus to strengthen relationships with them as we work together toward a shared vision for the region and state of Washington.
Best, Jack

Foundation and Advancement
Need help helping students? Here are two resources available through the Foundation:
1) Emergency Fund – Financial assistance is available to Shoreline Community College students who are dealing with financial hardship resulting from an emergency, accident, or other unexpected critical incident that has a direct impact on their academic success at Shoreline. https://shorelineemergency.awardspring.com/
2) Scholarships – The Foundation has awarded thousands of academic and workforce scholarships to Shoreline students. In addition to federal and state financial aid, scholarships are a great way to offset all or part of the cost of an education. https://www.shoreline.edu/foundation/scholarships.aspx
Want to help students in other ways? Consider making a gift to the Foundation. As an employee, you can make a gift through payroll deduction, or through the website: https://www.shoreline.edu/foundation/giving.aspx.
