We are thrilled to announce that Dalila Paredes has accepted the role of Acting Dean of STEM at Shoreline Community College (SCC). Dalila began at SCC in April of 2022 as the Associate Dean of STEM and Workforce with an impressive ten-year tenure of distinguished professorship in biology and chemistry at Amarillo College and Clark College. As a first generation, queer, female, Mexican-Indigenous, Latina in STEM, Dalila brings a wealth of academic expertise and a profound commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) within our campus and STEM community.
Dalila is an accomplished academic leader with a proven track record of driving positive change and fostering inclusive excellence. From spearheading critical Accreditation efforts on campus, actively participating in the DEIA advisory committee and being a member of SCC’s first affinity group, Queer Folx and Friends, Dalila’s commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility is evident. Her involvement in the Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee (LOAC) underscores her dedication to academic quality and continuous improvement.
Notably, Dalila has also led efforts in the successful development of the new HSAMCC building, poised to open its doors soon. With an unwavering passion for both education and empowerment, Dalila continues to shape a brighter future for Shoreline and its community.
As we embark on this new chapter under Dalila’s leadership, we look forward to witnessing her vision for fostering a vibrant and inclusive STEM environment that embraces the unique talents and perspectives of our community.
