Welcome back, and Happy New Year!
It’s been great seeing people on campus this week and catching up on everyone’s holiday stories. The most common (and celebrated it seems) is “I did almost nothing and loved every minute of it!” I can appreciate that! I did go out to Arizona to see some of my family this break. Highlights included “axe throwing” with my niece and nephew- if you haven’t tried it, I recommend it. It is fun! There are some opportunities around Seattle (Everett, Lynwood, Kenmore have locations to try it out). Is it the new bowling? Not sure. Unlike bowling you don’t throw a ball, but you do throw axes at various targets, you can even bring in digital photos! This time we aimed primarily at zombies. I started out fairly well, and then got increasingly worse. My 13-year-old niece did very well, and I have a great photo of her with the axe which is a bit intimidating!
Hope your week away was pleasant. Since I have been back, I have been hunkered down working on some projects that have deadlines this week. I also read the first draft of the accreditation mid-cycle report which is looking great so far!
The other day I attended the International Education Orientation which was great. It was packed and I was happy to hear that we keep increasing enrollment post-covid. I loved meeting families and connecting with students at the event. It was energizing, and a good start to the week.
Keep up all the great work you are doing out there and stop by and say hello!
Cheers,
Jack
