Business and Administrative Services
This past Monday, March 24th, the WA House and Senate released their 2025 Supplemental Budget and 2026-2027 Biennial Budget proposals.
For the 2025 Supplemental Operating Budget Proposal, the House’s budget proposal *does* take back the $28.6 million of the OFM debacle within the current fiscal year. The Senate’s budget proposal does *not* take back the $28.6 million. Shoreline CC’s portion of this $25.8 million is $1,013,000.
For the 2025-2027 Biennial Budget Proposal, both the House and Senate have reductions in addition to the $28.6 million reduction of the OFM debacle already discussed. For example, for the upcoming FY 2026, the House Budget Proposal is an additional $5 million reduction to SBCTC Funding compared to current FY 2025. The FY 2026 Senate Budget Proposal has an additional $19 million reduction in SBCTC Funding compared to current FY 2025. Additionally, the Senate Budget Proposal *does* include a one-day furlough each month over the 24-month biennium while the current House Budget proposal does *not.*
Because of the various performance funding, earmarks, and proviso funding buckets, the specific dollar impact to Shoreline CC is not known at this time. Further, as the WA Legislature moves through the Legislative Session, the amounts could change significantly from these initial budget proposals. Regardless, both the House and Senate are signaling a budget reduction in State Appropriations to the SBCTC.
