An update and a reminder related to on-campus food service:

  1. Food Trucks:

Beginning with the Fall Quarter, we are confirmed and in contract with Seattle Food Trucks Monday-Thursday, from 11:00 AM -2:00 PM weekly, with two mobile food vendors on site each day. These services will begin on Monday, 9/22/25.

A schedule of vendors is located on the newly updated (with a few more edits forthcoming) Dining On Campus page under the heading Mobile Food Vendors. You can also visit the Seattle Food Truck page

  1. Evergreen Refreshments (Avanti Markets):

The self-service food equipment refresh in PUB Bldg. 9000 with new Pico Vision Coolers is complete.

As a reminder, when a user scans their debit or credit card, a pre-authorization is triggered. As a result, a $10.00 pending charge may appear on their bank account. This is temporary and will adjust once the actual product charge is finalized.

For users that had a previous Avanti Market Card, the cards are not compatible with the new Pico Self-Service Food and Beverage Coolers. Users that have an existing balance on their Avanti Market Card may reach out to Evergreen Refreshments via telephone at (206) 242-5700 or email recept@evergreenrefreshments.com to request a refund.

Users will need to provide the following information:

  • The Avanti Market Card number located on the back of card
  • First and Last Name
  • Mailing address

A check refund will be mailed to the mailing address provided by the User.

Fiscal and Accounting Services

Please see two important updates regarding pre-approvals needed for Travel and Using Consultants and Contractors:

  1. Travel Pre-Approval by E-Team Member: Dr. Kahn’s “Planning Memo Part 2 Cost-reduction Strategies 2025-2026” email dated 7/10/2025 states that E-Team Members must pre-authorize travel authorization requests. An excerpt is posted here:

“All travel must be pre-approved by the appropriate Executive Team member and their approval document (email, etc.) uploaded along with other travel documentation, e.g. agenda, lodging estimates, etc., in the ctcLink Travel Authorization form.”

Please use the “New Travel Authorization Approval Form” to document your E-Team Member’s pre-approval and submit along with your other travel authorization paperwork.  It is posted on the Employee Forms and Resources Intranet page under Forms & Processes. Screen snip is below.

  1. Contractor/Consultant Pre-Approval by President Kahn: In alignment with Dr. Kahn’s 7/10/2025 Budget Memo #2, which outlines that his pre-approval is required prior to hiring external contractors and/or consultants, please complete the Contractor/Consultant Hiring Pre-Approval Form which is now located on the SCC Intranet. It must be included with your agreement (contract) documentation. Please note that this is different than the required pre-approval needed for Travel Authorizations.

Mail Services

As operations and coverage of the Mail Services Department continues among different employees, we need your help as we adjust our mail and package handling and delivery procedures.

To help complete our mission to timely send and receive interoffice mail, USPS mail, and other carrier packages, please pick up and drop off your items at the Mail Services Office (Room 9100) located at the external loading dock on the ground floor of the PUB 9000 Building. Please do not come to the interior door as the noise levels inside cover up door knocking sounds.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact Joe Mazur, Kimberlee Clark, Aimee Henson, or Gayla Hocker.

New Microsoft Outlook Email Quarantine Feature Activated!

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen Shoreline’s cybersecurity posture and enhance the user experience, we have activated a new MS Outlook Email Quarantine feature. This tool is designed to help manage potential spam messages more effectively.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Quarantine Notifications will come from: quarantine@messaging.microsoft.com
  • The system flags emails that may be spam and sends you a notification for review.
  • You will have three options for each quarantined message:
  1. Review the Message
  1. Block the Sender
  1. Release the Message

Please treat all quarantined items as spam unless you are certain of their legitimacy before taking any action.

This feature is part of our commitment to keeping our digital environment secure and user-friendly. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Advancement & Foundation

With students returning to campus, you may get questions about scholarships that you aren’t sure of the answer to. Please direct students to scholarships@shoreline.edu or bring them to room 1005 and we’ll be happy to help them. Also – with the new Intranet, we will have a full scholarship FAQ and resource section specifically for staff/faculty! The Advancement office is excited that Amy Stapleton has joined our team. Moving the Outreach role from Enrollment Services to the Advancement Office has already helped streamline and improve our strategy for engaging and growing our community stakeholders. Amy’s in-depth knowledge of our community and her collaborative spirit are a true asset to our community relations efforts! One of the things Amy will be tackling this Fall is how we can better showcase our events so that more people engage with our campus. Amy will be working with others to do a deep dive into how we plan and deliver events on campus. Their goal is to make the process easier and connect efforts to our strategic plan. Stay tuned for more!
