Hello Campus Community,
I hope your quarter is going well, hard to believe we are at the mid-point. My week has been very busy working with colleagues in HR and Payroll as we shore up support for the units and move forward with improvements. In addition, there are a lot of projects I am working on including policies, budget, and partnerships. I will share a summary with campus in the next couple weeks about plans and progress.
I wanted to take a moment to also mention some of the incredible work happening all across Shoreline — work that truly showcases the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students.
We are so fortunate to have faculty who bring vision, creativity, and collaboration to their programs every day. A wonderful example is our Winter Production of Cabaret, which highlights a remarkable revival of musical theater at Shoreline. The production was only made possible because multiple faculty members stepped up and joined forces after the pandemic left the program without a director. Learn more about their collaboration here.
Shoreline’s Honda PACT program is earning well‑deserved recognition thanks to instructor and alum Rashawn Smith, who brings incredible energy, industry expertise, and a deep commitment to student success. His hands‑on teaching, strong partnerships with local dealerships, and focus on removing barriers for our students creates an environment where students thrive. It’s a great example of how Shoreline builds not just skilled technicians, but confident, supported learners ready for the workforce. Click here to learn more about Rashawn’s work.
I also had the pleasure of joining our wonderful Lunar New Year celebration, welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse 🔥🐎 with many of you. The joy, energy, and cultural richness of that event was contagious — a reminder of the beautiful diversity and community spirit that makes Shoreline such a special place.
And this week, I also attended ICE Responsiveness Training. I’m grateful to everyone who organized and participated in this important learning opportunity. It reinforced our commitment to ensuring that Shoreline remains a safe, informed, and supportive environment for all students.

Accreditation
- Find your 2025-26 Program Review here.
- Program Review upcoming deadline: by Monday March 16, 2026:
- Innovation Grant requests due.
- All other resource requests due (except for instructional equipment requests): resource requests can include personnel, as well as goods and services.
- All sections of Instructional Program Reviews need to be completed by Faculty Program Coordinators (FPCs) and team.
- All sections of Service Area Program Reviews need to be completed by first-level administrators and team.
- Note: instructional equipment requests are not due until May 8, 2026.
- If you are not requesting a change in resources, your Program Review is due in May or June (see all Program Review rolling deadlines).

Foundation
Volunteer opportunity: Join us in reviewing scholarship applications in April! It’s a great way to support our students and get to know them better. You will receive 10-20 scholarship applications to score based on the rubric we provide. Total time commitment averages around 2-4 hours.

Guided Pathways
In conjunction with the release of the Starfish tool, Degree Planner, we are rolling out introductory educational training sessions called Starfish 101 and Degree Planner 101 over the next several weeks. These are hands-on, live-guided sessions designed to introduce these programs, demonstrate how they function, and provide an open forum for questions. These 50-minute sessions will be held back-to-back, with the option to register for one session or both.
Starfish 101 & Degree Planner 101 Registration – Fill out form
Please be sure to register in advance for these sessions. There are configurations that are needed to make sure everyone has access before the sessions begin.
- Starfish 101 will introduce how to find and filter information about individual students and groups of students, how to create and share notes about student interactions and how to create appointments for office hours, featuring Speed Notes to quickly capture common experiences or conversations.
- Degree Planner 101 will introduce how students can approach degree planning and exploration, how to build custom schedules that encompasses everything needed to complete a degree, that align with both prerequisites and degree requirements and discover how completed coursework is used and applied in a variety of situations.
Here is an introduction video about Degree Planner to give you a sense of what it does.
More advanced trainings are going to be available for Degree Planner for groups with direct, frequent exposure called Degree Planner 201 and Degree Planner 202. You can expect a direct email about registration for those sessions if you are in one of those groups.
