Campus Updates 4/2/2026

Hi folks, hope you are doing well.  And happy spring!

As always, it’s great seeing students back on campus.  I had a fun time with some students yesterday at the henna event, and I shared some photos of my recent henna experience as well.  The students were really talented – the freehand was very well done!

This week, March 31st was Trans Day of Visibility.  Giving a shout out here to all the trans-identified folks who are part of our community!  Given the increase in proactive attempts to silence trans experiences and identity, it is important as a reflection of our Mission to continue to celebrate all community members.  The college usually does an event for Trans Day of Remembrance in November, but every day is a good day to recognize community accomplishments!

I also wanted to remind you of our first-ever Shoreline Preview Day on May 14, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

What is Shoreline Preview Day?

It’s an interactive open house where prospective students and their families can:

  • Tour the campus
  • Meet faculty, staff, and current students to ask questions
  • Try hands-on, interactive demos
  • Learn about campus resources and support services such as advising, tutoring, and student services
  • Get support with admissions and financial aid

This open house is a great opportunity to showcase your department, highlight support services, and share what makes Shoreline special and unique.

We’d love for you to be part of this interactive open house, whether by hosting a table, leading a demo, volunteering, or helping with campus tours.

Fill out the Preview Day Participation Form to let us know how you’d like to get involved. Please submit your responses no later than April 10th. 🙂

Thank you for helping make Shoreline Preview Day a great experience for our future students!

Cheers,

Jack

  • This is good news!

Foundation/Advancement/Alumni

Fun Fact: Shoreline College is currently the #3 employer of our own alumni, which means many of you are already an important part of the Shoreline alumni family!

Shoreline’s Alumni Network plays a key role in growing volunteer efforts, boosting enrollment, and supporting the College financially, both in the community and beyond.

Events

Procedures for Campus Events are being developed! The Communications and Community Development Council met on Monday, March 23 to discuss campus-wide procedures for events at Shoreline College. This work is part of an ongoing effort to refine a shared framework for planning and coordinating events across campus. The goal is to ensure events align with the college’s mission and strategic priorities, use resources responsibly, follow appropriate approval processes, and create positive, engaging experiences for students, employees, and the broader community. Stay tuned for more information. If you are interested in joining this Council, please email Wendy Coates.
