Canvas Orientation Dates Announced: March 31 and April 3

Welcome to Spring Quarter!  If you are new to online classes or just need a Canvas refresher, we are offering Canvas Orientation classes for students on campus this week.

Sessions are:
Tues., March 31 from 2-3 p.m. in Room 1305
Fri., April 3 from 12-1 p.m. in Room 1305

If you cannot attend in person, please check out the recorded version available at our eLearning webpage.

Cafeteria Now Offering Salad, Plus Food Service Spring Quarter Hours Announced

Good news, health nuts! The cafeteria has now added a salad bar to its offerings. Now you can eat your greens for only $.49 per ounce including dressing. Choose from a variety of yummy offerings including two different lettuce choices daily, fresh veggies, and protein choices that will rotate daily!

Best part? It’s vegan friendly. Nom nom!

But the cafeteria isn’t the only option for getting your grub on. Here are the Spring Quarter hours for food service around campus (March 30 – June 8):

Café:
Mon-Thurs., 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Fri., 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Coffee Spot:
Mon-Thurs., 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Fri., 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Little Spot:
Mon-Thurs.,  8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Fri., 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Call for Nominations for Student Service Award

Shoreline Community College is pleased to continue the tradition of presenting a Student Service Award to honor one or more of its graduating students. This award recognizes a student’s service and contributions to the College and is presented during the commencement ceremony each year. The recipient(s) will receive an individual plaque and their names will be added to a permanent plaque that is displayed in the Student Leadership Center.

Nominations are currently being accepted for this prestigious award. Please consider using the nomination form to nominate one or more students who have contributed to your department, program, campus committee, club activity, or service-learning event. Using the attached form, please nominate one or more students and describe in detail their contributions to our college community.

Criteria for the Service Award are listed below:

  1. Presented to students graduating during the current academic year; fall quarter 2014 through summer quarter 2015.
  2. Up to four students may be recognized each year for this award.
  3. Nomination should be based on the student’s service and contributions to Shoreline Community College students, faculty, staff, or to the College.
  4. Service may be provided in either a volunteer or a paid position during the student’s enrollment and is not limited to only the current academic year.
  5. Recognized service may include participation on College committees; assistance to other students (i.e. tutoring); helping students with disabilities; leadership of or involvement in student clubs and organizations; participation in presentations to the community (i.e. plays, concerts, athletic events); leadership of projects which improve the College’s educational climate; or other service having a positive impact on the College.
  6. The Commencement Committee selects the recipient of the Service Award from among the nominations received.

Shoreline offers more than 50 full-ride scholarships

While the cost of attending college may be going up, for more than 50 incoming students this fall at Shoreline Community College their tuition for the next two years could be … zero.

Shoreline Community College, the Shoreline Community College Foundation and other philanthropic partners are combining efforts on a new scholarship program called Shoreline Scholars that launches today, March 27, 2015.

“Shoreline Scholars is an investment by the college, the foundation and our supporters in our communities,” President Cheryl Roberts said. “We know that there are many students in our district who are studying hard and getting good grades, but, for a variety of reasons, wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend college.
