Monday, Nov. 24:
The Queer Film Festival ends with a screening of R/Evolve at 12:30 p.m. in room 9208.
Tuesday, Nov. 25:
New student registration begins.
Jazz ensemble concert at Tula’s in Seattle at 7:30 p.m.
Check out Music Tech faculty member Jim Elenteny’s rock band Science! at the Nectar Lounge in Fremont. Science! plays from 10:45 p.m. to Midnight!
Wednesday, Nov. 26:

Faculty Learning Community

This year at SCC, we are fortunate to have been granted funding from the state to have a Faculty Learning Community on the topic of Online Course Accessibility. This community is not limited to faculty alone – it is open to staff and admins as well and we have a varied and motivated group already assembled from across campus.
However, we have a lot of work to do and welcome more interested participants!! We are meeting twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 2:30-4 p.m. Next Meeting: Monday, Nov. 24. Please contact Amy Rovner in eLearning for more information.
This FLC funding has also paid for our group’s virtual attendance at the foremost national conference on accessing technology in higher ed, titled Accessing Higher Ground. Our virtual ticket enables us to live stream the conference as it happens this week in Colorado. We have reserved the conference room in the 1200 building for Friday, Nov. 21 from 8 -11:45 a.m. Please check out the attached schedule of events and sign up for those that you want to view with us and we’ll save you a seat!
Poster defacement condemned by college officials

Several incidents of defacing posters for the Queer Film Festival at the Shoreline Community College brought a quick and clear response from college leaders.
“When one of us is diminished at our college, we are all diminished,” President Cheryl Roberts said on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 after learning of the incidents. “As a college, we respect each individual. This value speaks to the character of our college and gets to the heart of who we are as a community of learners. These actions are not who we are or desire to be. This is an example of who we are not.”
According to reports from faculty, a number of posters for the weekly film festival were ripped down or defaced. The festival is sponsored by Project Pride, a student body association-sponsored club. In at least one case, a biblical saying was written next to the word “pride” on the poster.
Vice President for Academic and Student Affair Bob Francis said that such anonymous quotes from religious texts have been historically used as threats toward members of the LGBTQ community as well as other marginalized communities and have at times been followed by acts of violence.
Toys for Tots drive

From now until Dec. 5 Shoreline’s Automotive Programs are collecting toys for Toys for Tots. The donation will be made at the Northwest Toy Run at Pacific Raceways on Dec. 7.
You can donate new toys that will directly benefit kids in the PUB across from the espresso stand and FOSS building 5000 by the entrance/exit doors on the main level.
