Fifty-six faculty, staff and administrators at Shoreline Community College were honored June 9, 2014 at the Spring Luncheon, a celebration of service award recipients and retirees. Together, the employees represent more than 800 years of commitment to helping students. (2014 Spring Luncheon program)

Honored for five years of service were: Betsy Binnian, Robin Blacksmith, Michael Boehm, Fikru Diro, Nancy Eichner, Deborah Handrich, Mimi Harvey, Adrienne Houck, Donna Langley, Daniel Leslie and Ellen Leung.

Marking 10 years of service were: Helena Azevedo, Maryrose Bellert, Ann Garnsey-Harter, Nancy Goodisman, Joanna Haeck, Holly Havnaer, Kay Johansen, Natalie Niblack, Jensina Oliver, Samira Pardanani, Movakel Sargizi, Saroeun Sey and Annamaria Winters.

Brian Saunders and Phat Tran were honored for 15 years at the college.

At 20 years were Chanthol Kong, Ron Norimatsu and Neal Vasishth.

Making the 25-year mark were Vince Barnes, Debra Doepping, Pamela Francisco and  Melinda Lane.

Sandra Bishop, Linda Mickelberry  and Margaret Parker were noted for 30 years of service.

One person, Dave Holmes, was honored for 35 years at the college.

And at 40 years of service to students, Gillian Lewis and Marcia Liaw were honored.

The retirees this year were Bruce Amstutz, Betsey Barnett, Donna Biscay, Diane Clifford, Tony Costa, David Cunningham, Cynthia Marshall, Jeanne Skaare, Bill Sperling, Jean Strieck, Margaret Whittemore and Barbara Yasui.

There’s service learning and then there’s learning about service.

Shoreline has many wonderfully people dedicated to the mission and values of a comprehensive community college. The annual Service Awards and Retirement Luncheon is an opportunity to acknowledge and honor some of our co-workers for their commitment to students.

This year we will honor nine retirees and hand out 44 service awards.

This year’s event is scheduled for 12:30-2 p.m., Monday, June 9, in the PUB Main Dining Room. As a quick reminder, service year awards are provided to staff, faculty, and administrators in recognition of service in five-year increments. Service years for this spring’s awards are calculated based on an employee’s start date at the college and the total number of service years completed as of December, 2013.

If you feel that you are due to receive a service year award, but didn’t receive a notification memo from HR, please feel free to contact the HR Office at 206-546-4769.

Grade rosters are now available on Instructor Briefcase.  Please contact the Payroll Office at 546-4515 if you’ve misplaced your PIN or haven’t received one.

Spring Quarter 2014 grades are due by 10:00 pm on June 17th.  It’s important that you submit grades as early as possible to assure they’re in by the deadline.  Late grades can present serious negative consequences to student’s financial aid funding and their ability to meet deadlines for transfer to four year colleges and universities.

Your help with getting grades in as early as possible is appreciated.
