Blood drive this upcoming Monday

Previously we said it was the last time at SCC for a blood drive before summer quarter. Well, there’s a slight change… there will be another chance this upcoming Monday! The Blood drive truck will be in the courtyard from 10-4 p.m. (with a lunch break from 12-1 p.m.)

Shoreline has been so generous and amazing, they can’t help ourselves but to ask for more.

Don’t wait, sign up now before your preferred time slot is taken!

A huge thank you!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This year’s Shoreline Community College ‘Closet Swap and Giveaway’ went great, and it’s all because of you.

Your donations and volunteering helped to the success of this event and it is so very appreciated.

I’m so very proud to be a part of a college that continues to always, always support the student’s success in so many ways.

You all do good work.

Philosophy and Film MOOC being offered

MOOCConstantly pondering philosophical questions like, what role should the government have? Or, what is the good life?

Have a passion for movies?

Shoreline will offer a free MOOC called “Philosophy and Film” with William Lindenmuth, associate professor of Philosophy.

The course will be available at Canvas.Net from July 21 to September 15, for you to enjoy exciting philosophical issues through the medium of film. As Lindenmuth argues, philosophy gives us a sense of personhood, place, and purpose; and film is a concentrated medium particularly suited for this.

Don’t miss the chance to share insights with participants from all over the world.

Enroll now at Canvas.Net.

The bricks are back…

bricksActually, they never left… They are still outside the entrances to the SCC Library/Media/Technology Center. And it is time to engrave a few more.

Each brick is $100 and is tax deductible.  The proceeds will be used to enhance the Library/Media/ Technology Center.

The bricks can be used to remember a loved one, commemorate an important event in your life, or place a favorite saying.

If you wanted one before, but didn’t get one; already have one, but want another; are new to SCC and thought you had missed out or just think “It is time” then place your order today.

The deadline to place your order is July 15, with the hope of having the bricks engraved before fall 2014. A minimum number is needed to proceed with the engravings.

Order forms can be found on the foundation site or in the Foundation Office – room 1005.

Contact Lynn Yaw (or x6783) with any questions.
