Update, 9:30am: Campus Network Instability

The wireless network across campus in all buildings has been restored through our back-up line.  The wired network still remains unstable at this time due to an external issue.  We are waiting for more information from our internet provider.

Please continue all in-person operations and classes as per usual.

Thank you for your patience!

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Green & purple ribbon for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

The SCC Counselors extend waves of gratitude to all staff and faculty members who continue to prioritize and support the mental health and well-being of our students.

Your care, compassion, and attentiveness make a meaningful difference. Thank you for being an essential part of our students’ support system.

If you’d like to feel more prepared to respond to a student experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge, keep an eye out for an upcoming announcement about the fall quarter Mental Health First Aid training.

In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, we encourage you to share these crisis resources with students. You could put them in your syllabus, in your Canvas course, or share directly with students who disclose that they are experiencing a mental health challenge:

Campus Network Instability

At 6:40 a.m. today (9/25), we experienced some instability with our campus network. Currently, the wired network remains unstable. The wireless network is operational in specific areas, and our team is working to reroute all services through the wireless network within the next few hours should wired issues persist.

For Staff

A list of locations with operational Wi-Fi will be shared shortly. If your work area is experiencing connection problems, you may temporarily move to one of the available Wi-Fi locations if possible or speak with your supervisor about telework options if applicable.

Please note that all campus services remain operational and open for in-person business.

For Students
All classes are proceeding as scheduled.

We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

(UPDATE) Innis Arden – Sidewalk Project

Dear Campus Community,

Please see below for updates regarding the Innis Arden Sidewalk Project.

CAMPUS GATES

  • The Main Gate and Exit Only have reopened, and all gates have returned to normal operations.
    • The East Gate and West Gate will resume their nightly closures, making the Main Gate the only campus entrance from approximately 11:00PM – 6:00AM.
  • Traffic bollards/cones are being used as temporary guidance for the exit lane of the Main Gate (photos below)

KING COUNTY METRO

  • King County Metro will remain on their reroute, not entering campus, until further notice.
    • Access the King County Metro route revisions by clicking the following link KCM Schedules and maps
      • Search for your Route # and all service advisories affecting that route will be noted near the top of the page.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The project is on pause for an unknown period due to external factors outside the control of the college. The new sidewalk sections already in place will remain closed until full project completion.
  • The recently placed signs providing direction to the Visitor Lot will remain in place at least through the end of the month to aid new students.

Questions can be directed to Director of Facilities Kim Clark, kclark@shoreline.edu  or Safety & Security, safetyandsecurity@shoreline.edu at any time.

A Wave of Gratitude

A Wave of gratitude to Jill Marquis for Inclusive Excellence and Student Engagement.

Jill has put in an incredible amount of work coordinating the Dolphin Day event. We see and value her effort, and it is a phenomenal benefit to the students that participate. We in the Learning Resources Division are so grateful to be included in her planning and are so happy to be able to share our resources with students. The event has just gotten better and better under her direction. You rock, Jill! From the Entire Learning Resources Division
