A message from President Roberts about Fall Convocation and Opening Week

Dear Colleagues,

As you read in the letter you recently received, Fall Convocation and Opening Week is a time for our campus community to prepare ourselves to welcome students for the new academic year.

I urge each of you to make time to attend Fall Convocation on Wednesday, September 14 (8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.). We begin our day in the Theater, building 1600. We have a full day of learning and interaction lined up for you that you won’t want to miss!

To be prepared for the afternoon discussion about Mindset, please remember to read the online article: Mindset by Carol Dweck – Summary.

For the latest Opening Week 2016 schedule and professional learning sessions, please visit www.shoreline.edu/openingweek.

As we start another year together, I look forward to seeing you at our Fall Convocation!

With warm regards,
Cheryl

Painting and Striping of Roadways and Parking Lots, Sept. 12-25

To give the roadways and parking lots a refreshed look, roadway painting and striping of the parking lots will start this week and continue through Sept. 25. While most of the work will be done on the weekends, there will be some painting done during the week to get the campus ready for fall quarter. Please regard the cones and steer clear of them, as they are marking spots where painting is occurring. Please note that, on some days of painting, some staff may need to park in lots that are not their typical lots to accommodate the work. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

If you have any questions, please contact Security Director Robin Blacksmith at 206-546-4503. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Kelley Kaneshiro Named Head Softball Coach

kelley-kA familiar face has taken the reigns of the Shoreline Community College Softball program. Athletic Director Steve Eskridge is pleased to announce that former Assistant Coach Kelley Kaneshiro will assume the role of Head Softball Coach. “I could not be more pleased that we were able to keep Kelley on board after a successful 2016 season, ” Eskridge stated. “Kelley brings great experience as a coach and former NCAA Division 1 player, but most importantly she understands what it means to be a part of Shoreline Community College.”

Kaneshiro spent last season as an Assistant with the program and helped the Dolphins reach the NWAC Tournament as well as a #10 RPI ranking. Prior to joining the Phins, Kaneshiro spent one season as an Assistant Coach with Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne where she focused on position players and hitting. Kaneshiro had a decorated career at Utah State where she still holds the career records for home runs and slugging percentage. Her single-season home run marks rank first (2010), third (2011), third (2008), and ninth (2012) all-time in program history.

Kaneshiro will also join the Athletic Department as a Recreation & Athletic Specialist for the 2016-17 school year. She begins her duties as Head Softball Coach immediately and begins her new position in the Athletic Department on September 17th.
