Campus Updates 9/17/24

Events and News

Well folks, it’s been “a week”.

This week began with the notice from OFM (please see memo last Friday and another this Thursday).  It has taken up much of my time in meetings and planning.

One highlight this week was chatting with Representative Cindy Ryu, representatives from Life Science Washington, and our very own Ben Weng and Dalila Paredes.  We chatted about our great biotech program and how we might collaborate to work together to see more students completing our programs.  We will be working with LS Washington and folks from industry to help identify and reduce barriers.  More on this exciting progress soon.

Looking forward to convocation at Convocation on Thursday!

Cheers,

Jack

Accreditation

  • Our Accreditation page reflects that the sanction of warning was removed by our institutional accreditors based on the April 2024 Mid-Cycle report and visit!  The accreditors said it was not expected for a college to get a sanction lifted in just one year’s time.
  • This positive outcome reflects the countless hours of hard work done by so many across the College.
  • Special thanks to: the Accreditation Committee and additional contributors to the accreditation report (as listed on pgs. 4-5).
  •   The ~70 employees who were interviewed by the accreditors, as well as those who helped prepare for and support those meetings.
  •  We now are in Year 4 of our seven year accreditation cycle with reports due each year. Our next scheduled accreditation visit will be fall 2027.
  • We now have just two accreditation recommendations, in which we are substantially in compliance with our accreditation standards but need to demonstrate improvement.
