Things you need to know for December Pay Periods/Payroll
Are you going on leave for more than the week closure? Please submit all leave and timesheets prior to your departure.
For the 12/22/2023 pay day
- Absence entries will be due by 3pm on Thursday, 12/14/2023.
- Timesheets will be due by 3pm on Friday 12/15/2023.
- Supervisors must have both approved no later than 8:30am on Monday 12/18/2023.
- Payroll must complete payroll by noon on Tuesday the 19th (SBCTC requirement), so no late timesheets will be processed for the 12/22 pay day.
- Reminder Personal Holiday (PRL reporting code), will expire on 12/31/2023, so please use if you still have your 8 hours. See this document to see your leave balances.
For the 1/10/2024 pay day – Recommendation, submit all time before the winter break on 12/22/2023.
- Absences will be due no later than Thursday December 28th; approved by supervisors on Friday December 29th.
- Timesheets will be due no later than 3pm on Friday December 29th(employees who are required to work Saturday and Sunday, submit at end of shift on these days).
- Unless authorized by your supervisor (and/or HR) you must submit comp time, vacation, personal holiday, personal leave and/or Leave without Pay for the week of 12/26-12/29.
- Supervisors must approve timesheets no later than 10am Tuesday January 2nd.

Shoreline Music Faculty are offering private, non-credit, music and voice lessons in Winter 2024. Learn to play the piano, saxophone, trumpet, percussion/drums, bass guitar, guitar, ukelele, or to sing for fun or professionally! Lessons are flexible, reasonably priced and non-credit. Campus Updates 12/8/23

Hello all and hope you are doing well. It’s been a super rainy week with some kind of “crud” going around. Try your best to stay healthy and dry!
It has also been an action-packed week on my end, but there are several good things happening. I attended the monthly WACTC President’s meeting which was online this time. It was convenient of course, but I missed seeing my colleagues in person. There is some good planning in the works which I will share once more things come to fruition.
A highlight of this week was a meeting with members of the Seattle Korean School, Samira Pardanani and Sookyung Park, Romina Plozza, and AnnaMaria Winters (ESL/Faculty Senate), Mayumi Steinmetz (World Languages), and Rachel Lee (Anthropology). It was a great brainstorming meeting for future partnerships and there was a lot of energy in the room. We have taken another step forward with this partnership, and I will keep you posted as we get closer to tangible projects that will serve our community
We had a great Board Meeting this week- thank you so much to folks who attended and participated. I also attended a great meeting with the Deans and learned about some of the really interesting initiatives they are collaborating with faculty to create. It was really impressive! Kudos to the Dean team and Faculty for being creative in thinking of ways to serve students!
Finally, I want to offer a brief thank you to all who engaged in giving initial feedback on the strategic plan and components. The conversations have been lively and are really helpful.

Fall Quarter Updates
Accreditation
- The 2023-24 Area Reviews were sent to lead administrators over the last few weeks.
- Due March 1, 2024.
- Area Reviews ensure operational planning is in alignment with institutional strategic planning.
- Area Reviews also directly inform resource allocation in that they are a data-informed means to request an increase or decrease in resources (human, technology, facilities, and funding) to help improve area effectiveness.
- This self-reflective, continuous improvement process is a key assessment effort that addresses the College’s accreditation warning and helps prepare for the upcoming April 18-19, 2024 Mid-Cycle Accreditation visit.

Good news from Dannica Totten and the Assessment & Testing Center. We’re excited to report that GED testing is available again in the Center. A BIG THANK YOU to the Technology Support Services Team who worked diligently in getting this complex testing up and running again, and our proctors as they got their certifications.

On Friday, November 3, 2023, the Shoreline Community College Foundation hosted its annual fundraising event in support of students and programs at SCC. With 225 guests, 20 volunteers, and 34 individual and corporate sponsors, $107,682 was raised.

In our continued partnership with Shoreline Fire, the King County Fire Chiefs Association is holding a King County Diversity and Recruitment Workshop at Shoreline Community College. The event is free to attend and open to all, whether you’re absolutely interested in the Fire service or if you just wanted to learn more about a career in the Fire service.
