Chinese Cultural Workshop: Paper-Cutting Art

Paper-cutting, as a culture symbol of China and popular folk art, was listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Archeologists have been able to trace the tradition of papercutting to as far back as the 6th century.

In this hands-on workshop, Chinese language and culture guest instructor Fei Ke from Shoreline Community College and guest scholar Lili Zhang from Pacific Lutheran University will co-host to teach participants basic skills of paper-cutting. You will make your own paper-cutting art with materials provided, learn about the myths and legends behind the folk art, and enjoy an incredible exhibition of artwork by paper-cutting master Lili Zhang (available for purchase).

Important Presentation Happening Tonight- Hope to See You There!

We have the unique opportunity to have a Holocaust survivor travel to us from out of state and share their story at the Shoreline Community College on Tuesday (tomorrow) May 2, 6 p.m. in the campus theater.

Our goal is to give an opportunity for students and the broader community to meet and hear first hand from a survivor of the Holocaust, which is a very important step towards building tolerance and understanding amongst humanity, ensuring such a horror will never repeat itself again, and to honor the newly established initiative just announced this past weekend by the president, establishing the month of May as Jewish Heritage Month.

Come join us for an important presentation tonight in honor of and connection with the recent Holocaust Remembrance Day.

What: 900 Days Under Nazi Seige

When: Tonight! Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 6:00-8:00 (Doors open at 6:00, Presentation starts at 7:00)
