Executive Director of DEI Recruitment Update

Dear Campus Community,

I am reaching out to provide an update regarding the Executive Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ED-DEI) position recruitment.

While the College was in discussion with the three finalists that emerged, unfortunately, all three of them have taken positions outside of Shoreline. Given that we are about to enter a year of transition for the leadership of the College, please know that the College will be re-evaluating how we can better recruit the ED-DEI position to hopefully result in a successful hire when the position is re-opened for application. In the interim, the College will continue to identify and share resources to campus as we continue our campus-wide DEI development.

Reminder: General Education Outcomes – Be Part of the Biggest Change in 20 Years

As announced previously, Shoreline is entering an exciting new era of outcomes and assessment as part of campus-wide Guided Pathways efforts. This is a reminder of some opportunities to lend your voice to Shoreline’s new general education outcomes. Below are two opportunities to participate.

General Education Outcomes input sessions for staff & admin (sign up here)

NEW DATES: 

·         Tuesday, July 13: 3:00 – 4:30 PM  

·         Thursday, July 15:  8:30 – 10:00 AM 

General Education Outcomes Summer Institute 

These paid 3-hour summer sessions will delve into the key questions around general education outcomes with participants providing guidance and direction for the structure and content of the revised outcomes. There are spaces for 16 more faculty (full-time and part-time) to take part in this paid experience during the month of July. To indicate your interest and availability during that time, please complete this brief form.

Retiree Recognition Event – Save the Date!

Please join us at this year’s annual Retirement Recognition event scheduled to be held virtually on Thursday, June 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This year’s celebration will include a live opening and welcome from President Roberts, video clips honoring the retirees, followed by visits with the 2020 – 2021 retirees in breakout rooms. Well wishes to the thirteen 2020 – 2021 retirees are being collected and you can include yours by visiting this online form to share your messages.

Get Involved with the Campus Garden this Summer or Fall

Shoreline Community College will be re-opening its campus garden during summer/fall 2021. The garden includes perennial and annual plants, fruit bushes, and raised garden beds.

Any students, faculty, or staff who are interested in getting involved with the campus garden are invited to complete a brief interest survey at bit.ly… to find out about upcoming opportunities.

Kick off Your Summer with New Continuing Education Classes

Learn something new this Summer with Continuing Education! Classes begin in July and require no application or previous experience. 

Get feedback on your latest writing project in Open Writer’s Workshop, explore the poetry of Rumi in Rumi: Poet of the Heart, or put that camera to use in Tips for Eye-Catching Bird Photography. Classes include learning activities, lectures, and discussions in a fun and supportive online environment. 

Continuing Education is also offering a small number of in-person classes on campus this Summer, such as Embroidery for Beginners or Summer Wines and Summer Bites. Please note that students must wear a mask to participate in any on-campus courses and class sizes have been adjusted to ensure safety protocols and social distancing. The College will also follow CDC guidelines regarding cleaning and appropriate air filtration. There will be no consumption of food or beverages during on-campus classes. Instructions regarding guidelines for campus access will be emailed to all registered students.
