Shoreline Community College is pleased to announce that Edwin Lucero has accepted the position of Director, Safety and Security, on an interim basis through June 30, 2018. The College recently conducted a national search for the director position, and senior administration determined to proceed with appointing Lucero, who had been performing supervisory duties in the area following the departure of Robin Blacksmith, for one year.
Senior Executive Director and CFO Stuart Trippel said, “Our recent search yielded a pool of candidates with strong backgrounds in law enforcement, which is undoubtedly valuable. In addition, campus security requires deep working knowledge of the complexities of the educational process, as well as lived experience with the rich diversity of our student body. I concluded that at this time, Edwin Lucero is the best person to move the Safety and Security Department forward and provide leadership at a time where security plays an increasingly important role on all college campuses.”
Lucero, who has served at the College since 2001, has over twenty years’ experience in campus safety and security. He has also cultivated close working relationships with local law enforcement agencies, including the Shoreline Police Department. In addition, he has completed multiple levels of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training on emergency management. Lucero will continue to enhance his skills in these areas.
The College will evaluate the director position again in early 2018.
