Penny wars recap!

Thanks to everyone that participated! After much counting (hours and hours worth of counting…) we have a winner!

in 5th place (we’ll be nice and not say last..oops!) International Education with -2,476 points! (yes…negative points).

in 4th, or better known as, almost last place, was the Student Leadership Center & the Center for Equity and Engagement duo with -2,408 points.

in 3rd (Bronze!) was the Public Information Office team with -1238 points.

In 2nd place (Oh so close!) was the President’s Office with 608 points.

And the winners (Bragging rights for a year!) is………..Humanities department with a whopping 2,710 points! (Seriously though, they had a milk jut of pennies…so not fair!)

TACTC transforming lives awards deadline extended

Please nominate a current or former student for the TACTC (Trustees association of community and technical colleges) Transforming Lives Awards

-The TACTC Transforming Lives Awards recognize current or former students whose lives have been transformed by attending a Washington State Community or Technical College (CTC).

-One (1) current or former student from each of the 34 Community and Technical Colleges will be nominated by the College’s Board of Trustees.  (From the nominations submitted by the campus community, the Shoreline Community College’s (SCC’s) Board of Trustees will determine the College’s nominee and forward the individual’s name and the reasons the Board selected the individual, to the TACTC.)

-The TACTC will honor all 34 current or former CTC nominees at a Transforming Lives Awards Dinner, held in conjunction with the January 19, 2014 TACTC Legislative Contact Conference.  The TACTC Awards Committee will select 5 winners from the 34 nominations.  The 5 award winners will be the featured speakers at the January 19thDinner and each of the 5 will also receive a monetary award in the amount of $50000.

Put on your dancin’ shoes!

dancepartyCheck out the World Dance Party put on by a few of our community partners. Clear your calendar on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7-10 p.m. and make sure to be at the Richmond Masonic Center (185th and Linden Avenue N) to join in on the fun!

The City of Shoreline and The Y are hosting a night of food, fun, multicultural dance and music! Be there to meet new people, gather with neighbors and friends to share good food, and learn some new dances while your at it.

The event is free, just bring a potluck dish to share!

Flu shots on campus

flushotsThe SCC Wellness Committee and Seattle Visiting Nurse Association will be giving flu shots on campus on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the PUB quiet dining room. The flu shots are open to all students, faculty and staff and will be $25 or it can be covered by personal insurance.
