Multicultural Job Fair, PUB 9208
Thurs., May 12: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Students and members of the public are invited to meet with local employers at this on-campus job fair. English language learners and multicultural job seekers are especially encouraged to attend. These employers are excited to meet job seekers from multilingual and multicultural backgrounds. Bring a resume if you have one, and make connections that could lead to a job! Interview practice sessions and resume reviews will also be available!

Meet and Greet with Dr. Alison Stevens, Room 1402

The campus community is invited to attend a meet and greet with our new Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Alison Stevens, on Thurs., May 12 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in Room 1402.

This will be an informal opportunity for members of the campus community to meet Dr. Stevens (or, for some, to welcome her back). Dr. Stevens will be starting in her new position as EVP-ASA here at Shoreline on June 20, 2016.

We hope you will take this opportunity to greet the newest member of our community and make her feel welcomed as she steps into an integral leadership role here on campus.

Dr. Jensina Oliver in concert with Shoreline Concert Band Tues., May 17

Shoreline Concert Band presents “Spotlight on Shoreline Community College Music,” the final concert of the school year next Tues., May 17. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and is at the Shorewood High School Performing Arts Center.

Several Shoreline Community College ensembles will be featured including the Shoreline Singers, the woodwind quintet, and the brass ensemble. The guest group of the evening will be the University of Washington Campus Concert Band.

The evening’s special soloist will be Dr. Jensina Oliver, chair of the Piano Department at Shoreline Community College. She will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Shoreline Concert Band. Pianist Dr. Oliver has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in the United States, China, Canada, Costa Rica, Israel, and Europe. She has won several solo and concerto competitions throughout the United States.

This exciting concert will conclude with music from “Star Wars.” This last concert of the year will be great fun and feature a variety of music.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted and appreciated and will go to the Peggy O’Coyne music scholarship fund.

The Shorewood High School Performing Arts Center is located at 17300 Fremont Ave N, Shoreline, WA.

Area High Schoolers on Campus Mon., May 16 for annual Student Bio Expo

On Mon., May 16, Shoreline Community College is hosting the 16th annual Northwest Association for Bio-medical research (NWBAR) Expo. The mission of the Student Bio Expo is to promote an understanding of bioscience research among high school students. The NWBAR encourages students to demonstrate their knowledge of the disciplines of biotechnology and biomedicine in creative ways. We are expecting 350-400 high school and middle school students from 23 regional schools to come to our campus.

Buses will start arriving with students outside the #1000 building at 7:45 a.m., and the students will be on campus until 2 p.m. The cafeteria will be open while the displays are up in the main dining room. Eating tables will be scattered throughout the building for this one day event.

Mentor Night is sponsored by the Puget Sound Engineering Council and is a great opportunity to learn about engineering from professionals in the field. There will be professionals from the different areas on engineering who will discuss what they do, how they got to the position they are in and give advice to future engineers.
