Phins volleyball vies for playoff spot with home game Thurs., Nov. 9

vball win.jpgCongratulations to our Volleyball team for Tuesday night’s big win over Whatcom! Our Phins played a hard-fought, five-set game to fend off the Orcas. This win keeps alive our Phins’ hopes of snagging the last Northern Region playoff spot. If our Phins claim victory over the Skagit Valley Cardinals this Thursday, they will head to the NWAC Volleyball Championships at the Tacoma Convention Center Nov. 16-19.

Phin Fans, please join us Thurs., Nov. 9 at 7pm in the Dolphin Dome (Main Gym, 3000 bldg) to cheer our Phins to victory over Skagit Valley! Show our volleyball team your support by coming in full-force to the game wearing your Phin Fan gear and sporting lots of cheers. We hope to see you there. #GoPhins!

The library is hosting a writing space especially for those participating in National Novel Writing Month. We have outlets, wifi, comfy chairs, and participants can log into the computers to work on their novels.

Come enjoy a mix of music to salute our Armed Forces Featured Groups that is familiar to everyone. “Salute to America” features the Everett Chorale and the Shoreline Concert Band.

Cost is $10 at the door, and proceeds benefit the Shoreline Community College Music Scholarship Fund.

Auditions for Opera Workshop 2018 are Nov. 8 & 9

Shoreline Community College opera and musical theater program is pleased to announce auditions for the Opera Workshop 2018 at Shoreline Community College. Open auditions will be held Wed., Nov. 8 and Thurs., Nov. 9, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:30 pm in the Campus Theater (Building 1600) on the College campus. Sign up for an audition slot.

Singers and actors are asked to bring one prepared song or aria for the audition (a pianist will be provided). Auditions are open to all members of the Shoreline and Seattle area community. Opera workshop cast members are required to register for either opera theater or drama performance credit through the college.

This season’s workshop features one-act operas by Washington State composers including Bruce Monroe and Bern Herbolsheimer. All works will be fully staged and performed with orchestra; performances are February 23, 24, and 25, 2018.

For the past forty-six years, the opera and musical theater program at Shoreline Community College has provided training and basic stage and performance experience for singers and actors while giving them the opportunity to earn college credit.
