Mark Your Calendars For the Athletic Banquet, May 29!

Join the Athletic Department on May 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the PUB for our annual celebration recognizing our student-athletes with athletic and academic awards from the Northwest Athletic Conference and other special team awards.

Entertainment at the dress-up affair will include live music, motivational speaker Mark Matteson, a silent auction, a southern-style dinner and dancing.

Tickets are:
$12 for seniors, students and children
$15 for general-public adults

Tickets may be purchased by check or credit card in the Athletic Office of Shoreline Community College. For more information on purchasing tickets, please contact Program Coordinator Kathy Langer at 206-546-4746 or Athletic Director Steve Eskridge at 206-546-4553.

The banquet was started in 1998 and ran consecutively through 2006 before going on hiatus. Last year, we were glad to bring it back to celebrate our Shoreline student-athletes!

In addition to the banquet, which starts at 7:30 p.m., there will be a silent auction to raise funds for our Athletic Department starting at 6:30 p.m. A dance will immediately follow the dinner and award ceremony.

Seating is limited, so please get your tickets right away. We hope to see you there!

Shoreline Nursing Program Graduation Ceremony, Thurs., March 19

Congrats to the Winter 2015 graduating class of the Shoreline Community College 6- and 10-Quarter Nursing Program!

A graduation ceremony will be held for the Nursing Program graduates, their families and friends and the Nursing Program Faculty and Staff on Thurs., March 19 at 4 p.m. in the PUB Main Dining Room. Please join us in celebrating the success and achievement of these fine students!

A cake and coffee reception will follow the ceremony.

You’re Invited to a March Madness Winter End of Quarter Social!

Come enjoy maple bars, mini muffins, M+Ms, mixed nuts, and all things Mmmmmmmm-tastic to mix up a general sense of merriment in celebrating the end of Winter quarter with friends and colleagues!

Who: SCC Campus Community (we hear President Roberts will be in attendance to help celebrate!)

Shoreline to Host 17th Annual Math Olympiad Event Sat., March 14

math olympiadIf you plan to be on campus this Sat., March 14 take note that 1,000+ elementary and middle school students, their teachers and parents will also be on campus for a Math Olympiad event scheduled from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. so be sure to leave extra time for parking and note that some facilities (mainly the gym and a few classrooms) will be occupied during the event.

The 17th annual Shoreline Math Olympiad math competition is being held again at SCC on March 14 – Pi Day! The competition is for 4-8th grade students attending public and private schools in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park. Last year we had 800 Mathletes compete and this year we’re aiming to top that!

Students test in the morning and enjoy entertainment and awards in the gym in the afternoon. It is sponsored by the Shoreline School District, Shoreline Public Schools Foundation, Shoreline Community College and local sponsors. More than 150 volunteers assist with the event.

This event is open to the public. Feel free to stop by and join us for our entertainment and awards ceremony, which begins at 12:15 p.m. in the Shoreline Community College gym. There is no charge for parking during the event.

Pi Day Mini Celebration for Faculty and Staff, Fri., March 13

In celebration of Pi day you’re invited to come and eat pie!

When: This Friday 3/13 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Where: Faculty and Staff Lounge on the 2nd floor of the 9000 building (PUB)
What: We meet and eat pie (or other round foods) and generally make merriment

Feel free to stop on by and join in the celebration and pie. Bonus points if you bring a pie (and a pie server if you have one) or some beverages.

Note: Pi Day is actually on Saturday and this year it’s a biggie – 3/14/15 – that only comes around once every one hundred years. So let’s celebrate by sharing pie or Pi!
