Intro To Canvas Learning Management System for Faculty

SBCTC has opened registration for the February session of “Intro to the Canvas Learning Management System for Faculty.”

This 3-week online, asynchronous course is designed for instructors who have never used the Canvas learning management system or who are just getting started. By the end of the course, you should have a basic understanding of the main features of Canvas, and be ready to begin using Canvas with your classes – regardless of whether you intend to teach online fully or simply move a portion of your activities and lectures online. Expect this course to take 20 hours over the three weeks, for those new to online teaching.

Which Workshop is for me?

    • Take the APPQMR workshop if you would like to see the QM Rubric applied to someone else’s course; if you are interested in seeing what a course looks like before a QM review, and again after incorporating reviewer comments; or if you are considering becoming a Peer Reviewer or a facilitator.
    • Take the IYOC workshop if you have already taken the APPQMR and need a refresher;  if you want to practice applying the QM Rubric to your OWN class; or if you are interested in getting your feet wet, but not fully immersed!

Online class “Accessibility 101: The Basics of Inclusive Design” starting soon

This 3-week, online, asynchronous course is offered by SBCTC and is designed for faculty and staff who want to learn simple and quick steps to make materials accessible for people with disabilities and better for all users. Participants do not need to be tech savvy to take this course, but familiarity with MS Office applications will be important. Participants will be introduced to basic accessibility concepts, practices, and inclusive design standards. The time commitment for this course is approximately 20 hours over the three weeks.

Chris Ward, Product Manager for Canvas, is seeking Faculty and Student participation in a survey to gauge the Course Analytics needs of both students and faculty.
