Student Success Coaches Off to a Successful Start at Shoreline

IMG_0527Newly hired student Success Coaches Nicki Sunwall and Erin Wilson both have very personal reasons for wanting students to put their best foot forward at Shoreline. Sunwall, who now helps students navigate college for a living, never intended to go to college herself. And Wilson was living out of her car when she first set foot on North Seattle’s campus as a first-generation student back in 2004.

Canvas Update Aug. 8 – No Downtime Required

Saturday’s Canvas release (August 8), instructors will now be able to view student interaction reports in a new overview layout, and several Canvas features will receive small updates for clarification and consistency. This release also removes all existing Etherpad collaborations in Canvas. You can view the Canvas Production Release Notes here.

Welcome a Familiar Face, Brian Keever, Into New Role as Instructional Designer

Please help us in welcoming Brian Keever into the role of Instructional Designer in eLearning. Brian is in office #1213 and can be reached at 206-533-6772. Brian has been an Associate faculty member in the Manufacturing Department for over three years. He has an active interest in learning and technology and is very excited by this opportunity to support faculty colleagues in their efforts to enhance the student experience by integrating technology into their courses. When not at work, he enjoys kayaking, cycling, and marveling at the beauty of our region.

Erin Wilson Named Online Student Success Coach

Please help us in welcoming Erin Wilson into the new role of Online Student Success Coach. She starts on Mon., June 15 and will be in office #1202 and at x6956.

Erin is a native Seattleite who is student-focused and has a deep passion for community college students since she herself attended community college. She comes to us from North Seattle College where she worked in Student Leadership and Multicultural Programs. There she managed clubs and affinity groups, advised student government, planned co-curricular activities, mentored students, and created inclusive communities while working on social justice issues. In December, she will complete her Masters of Science degree online from Colorado State University in Student Affairs in Higher Education.

Stephanie Diemel Named eLearning Faculty-In-Residence for 2015-16

We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Diemel will be the eLearning Faculty-In-Residence for the 2015-16 academic year.  She is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy and was the eLearning Faculty-In-Residence for the 2014-15 academic year.
