Panopto training

As you have heard, Panopto is our new lecture capture provider.  Livia and I are putting together trainings for you to begin on Tuesday, June 10, through finals week, into Summer and beyond!

The finals week trainings will cover the basics – how to access your “already downloaded” Tegrity recordings in Panopto, how to link/add these to your Canvas classes for Summer and Fall quarter and how to make a simple recording in Panopto.  We had hoped to come to you for these trainings, but all of the smart classrooms are booked for finals. We are in the 1200 building on Tuesday and then in the PUB for the remainder of that week.  We realize you are off contract after June 13 but we will still have two trainings in a computer lab on June 17 & 19 for those interested in “hands on” practice before Summer Quarter begins.

Here’s the schedule:

Bring a laptop to practice on if you want.

  • Tuesday June 10, 2:00-3:00pm, Room 1208
  • Wednesday, June 11, 10:00-11:00am, Room 9201
  • Thursday, June 12, 12:00-1:00pm, Room 9201
  • Friday, June 13, 2:00-3:00pm, Room 9201

Hands on Training in the Computer Lab – Canvas questions welcome too!

  • Tuesday, June 17 11:00-12:00pm, Room 1301
  • Thursday, June 19 12:00-1:00pm, Room 1301

Let us know if these dates and times don’t work for your schedule and we can arrange one-on-one training for another time.

Hope to see you there!

  • Profile pictures – new cropping tool to help photos fit

We’re offering a guided review of these features and more on:

If you can’t make either session, give us a call/email and we’ll show you at your convenience.

More information about transition from Tegrity Lecture Capture System to Panopto

eLearning Faculty:

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) is still negotiating a contract with Panopto, but it is anticipated to be complete soon.  The SBCTC just released a new webpage on Panopto with a timeline for the state’s transition off of Tegrity.  Of note:

*May 8th: all Tegrity videos recorded before May 8th will be migrated automatically to Panopto.  Videos recorded after May 8th will need to be downloaded by faculty and imported into Panopto (training will be provided).

*Between now and May 8th, please go through your Tegrity videos and delete unneeded ones.  This will reduce the amount of data that need to be moved to Panopto.

*Tegrity will be unavailable after June 30th, 2014.

Finally, thanks for your patience on this.  We will continue to share information as soon as it becomes available to us from the SBCTC.

Tegrity Will Be Replaced by Panopto as Lecture-Capture Vendor for Summer Quarter

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) eLearning just announced that Panopto has been selected as the new lecture-capture vendor to replace Tegrity.

What does this mean for you?  Our content on Tegrity will need to be transitioned to Panopto by June 30, 2014, when the SBCTC eLearning’s contract with Tegrity expires.

Why do we need to change?  This decision comes out of a statewide lecture capture request for proposal (RFP) process because the SBCTC’s contract with Tegrity is expiring on June 30, 2014.  Many thanks to those SCC faculty and staff who participated in that process.

What are next steps?:  The SBCTC will negotiate a statewide contract with Panopto and then a plan will be developed on how to transition our Tegrity content to the new product.  Training will be provided.  Stay tuned.
