Current students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate Watch Party on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 5pm in the PUB QDR (9208). Learn about the candidates, JD Vance and Tim Walz, and where they stand on the important issues. Enjoy free refreshments and moderated discussion during the event. Sign-in required.

Classroom Support Services Information – Fall 2024

Classroom Support Services provides support of classroom AV systems. We offer training sessions on the AV systems, including the usage of the Windows PC, document camera, and video projector. We coordinate response to infrastructure concerns in conjunction with Facilities Services.

We offer consultation on your ideas for using media technology tools. Media tools include Panopto for lecture capture and Zoom for video conferencing. Classroom Support Services creates and supports Zoom accounts. A/V support is provided for campus meetings and events.

We strive to respond to classroom AV issues within 15 minutes, and all support requests within 24 hours. Please provide at least one-week advance notice for media support for meetings and events.

Happy Latinx/e Heritage Month!

Thank you all for a wonderful start to the Fall!  

Today I want to take a moment to celebrate Latinx/Latine History month! During this time of the month, we celebrate the rich diversity, heritage, culture, and history of the Latinx/e Community. This time of year, Sept 15th to Oct 15th, also coincides with the Independence days of several countries in Latino America also known to my people as Manawara.

In honor of Latinx/e History Month you will find an attached list of books that we welcome you to explore. Each of these books were selected with assistance from Arantxa Gallegos from South Seattle College and have a wide range of authors & interests. 

The Office of DEIA in collaboration with our Theater Department, The Foundation, and The Seattle Latino Film Festival will be hosting Films for viewing here at Shoreline! These films were reviewed by the Office of DEIA and will be a part of the Seattle Latino Film Festival line up this year. A special shout out to Tony Doupe & Jorge Enrique Gonzales for their amazing partnership! Please consider attending, bringing family, and/or sending your classes to view this amazing opportunity. The Office of DEIA will also be hosting a special session on Latinx Identity through a new community gathering series in October. An official announcement with the official name and Fall quarter schedule will be shared later this week!  

During this time, you will find several identity terms floating around from Afro- Latino & Indigenous Latino all the way to Tejano. All of these identities tackle the question of who we are and what best can be used to describe us. Regardless, folks are free to use whatever term best describes themselves and be free to evolve as they change & grow. The links above provide some videos that will help you explore a variety of identity terms so please feel free to check them out!  

In El Salvador we often remind our children that as a country & region, we may be small like the ants that walk beneath our feet, individually tiny, but together there is nothing we cannot overcome.

Update – Elevator Service Outage – Bldg. 2000, 4000, 6000

Dear Campus Community,

The elevators in Building 2000 (Visual Arts Center) and Building 4000 (Library) are back in service.

Building 6000 (Cedar) is still have emergency communications issues that need to be addressed before it can be put back into service. We do not yet have a timeline for when the elevator will return to service, but updates will be given as they become available. We are working to get technicians out as soon as possible.

Road Closure Tuesday 9/24/24

Dear Campus Community,

On Tuesday, September 24th, the roadway between Bldg. 1700 and Bldg. 1800 and the parking stalls behind Bldg. 4000 (Library) will be closed to vehicles due to work on the Bracken Building Project. Flaggers will be on site to ensure the safety of any pedestrians that may need to traverse this area. An exact timeline is not known, but we are planning for the roadway to be closed for the entire day and to be open for the first day of Fall Quarter.
