Foundation

SCHOLARSHIP REVIEWERS NEEDED! Every Spring, the Shoreline Community College Foundation awards approximately 100 scholarships for the following academic year. Unlike the quarterly scholarship awards, academic year scholarships tend to have larger awards and twice the number of students applying. I am reaching out today to invite you to volunteer as a reviewer for our upcoming 24/25 academic year scholarships.

Your help is a win for our donors, who so generously fund these opportunities, and for our students, who deserve thoughtful, insightful, and unbiased evaluation of their applications. When you volunteer as a reviewer, you play a crucial role in evaluating the applications of our students and recommending those who demonstrate exceptional determination and potential. Your recommendations will help guide the selection process, ultimately leading to life-changing opportunities for deserving candidates. Moreover, reviewing scholarship applications offers a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the aspirations and ambitions of our students. It allows you to engage with their stories, achievements, and future goals in a new and meaningful way.

The time commitment for this volunteer opportunity is flexible – we estimate about 5 hours total between April 1 and April 22. The number of actual scholarships you will evaluate will depend on the number of applications and the number of evaluators we recruit. We will provide detailed instructions and guidelines to assist you throughout the review process. Best of all, you can log into the reviewer portal from anywhere.

If you are interested in volunteering as a reviewer or have any questions about the process, please reach out to Michelle Cimaroli mcimaroli@shoreline.edu

Printing Services will be closed Thursday, March 28th and Friday, March 29th and will re-open on Monday, April 1st.

Technology Support Services (TSS)

Zoom Update:

A recent communication from Zoom has indicated an upcoming enforcement for minimum version requirements for logging on and joining Zoom meetings via the Zoom Client beginning on May 4th.  What this means is anyone attempting to join a Zoom meeting using the Zoom client must have downloaded and installed a minimum update version level or they will be logged out and unable to join the meeting. Currently all Shoreline devices (desktops and laptops) are already performing these updates on a regular schedule; however, if you are joining from a personal device, you should ensure you are updating your Zoom client on a regular basis. This minimum version enforcement will be updated on a quarterly basis. If you would like more information, please check the Zoom support article here

Printer Rollout Update:

We have previously reported that printer rollouts have begun in buildings 1000, 4000, 5000, and 6000.  Instructions have been provided for using the new printers as the rollout continues here.  These instructions will be updated at this same link as new configurations are distributed to the new devices. Currently the new machines area operational with these instructions in buildings 1000 and 4000.  Ricoh is scheduled to return Thursday, 3/28 to finish the installation of printers in building 5000 and 6000 with both buildings being activated by the end of this week. Ricoh is also scheduled to return on Monday 4/8 and Tuesday 4/9 to complete the rollout of the new printers to the remaining buildings across campus. Further updates will follow at that time.

4102 Student Computer Lab:

TSS has been working with the help of Facilities to restore the 4102 student computer lab in the bottom floor of the 4000 building. We are delighted to report this work is nearly complete and the new student computer lab should be ready to launch sometime in the early Spring quarter. More info to come at that time.
