Waves of Gratitude for Brandon Fryman of eLearning for Inclusive Excellence, Student Engagement, Community Engagement and DEI. Brandon Fryman’s dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is truly remarkable and has had a profound impact on our community. He is always willing to listen and engage with others, and his approach to these important issues is both compassionate and knowledgeable.

Brandon’s work has helped to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone on our campus, regardless of their background or experiences. He has been instrumental in organizing events and initiatives that celebrate and raise awareness about diverse cultures and identities, and his efforts have helped to bring people together to have important conversations about these issues.

His passion and commitment to this work is truly inspiring, and he has become a leader in our community in this area. I feel fortunate to have him as a colleague, and I know that his efforts will continue to make a positive impact for years to come. I am currently taking his Online and Hybrid Institute and am learning so much.

So, on behalf of the entire community, I want to thank Brandon for all that he does, and for his unwavering commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all that he does. Well done, Brandon! Submitted by anonymous.

As a reminder, for those wishing to acknowledge the work of fellow shoreline staff members or a group at Shoreline, you need only submit a Waves of Gratitude form for individuals or a Shoreline Shoutout for groups.  Thank you from the Employee Recognition Committee – Rob, Wanda, and Megan.

The Arabian Nights Production in March!

The Arabian Nights is a full-length drama adapted for the stage by Mary Zimmerman from Powys Mather’s translation of The Book of Thousand Nights and One Night. Passionate, playful, provocative storytelling, The Arabian Nights examines the fascinating tale of Scheherazade. In the wake of discovering his queens infidelity cruel King Shahryar has soured on all womankind. Then theres no one left but clever Scheherazade. Can her 1001 cliffhanger stories keep her alive?

The Arabian Nights tells the tale of Scheherezades nightly telling of evocative tales. 1001 nights later the storyteller and listener are forever changed. A twelve-member cast enacts Scheherazade’s tales of love, lust, comedy, and dreams. Scheherazade’s cliffhanger stories prevent her husband, the cruel ruler Shahryar, from murdering her, and after 1,001 nights, Shahryar is cured of his madness, and Scheherazade returns to her family. This adaptation offers a wonderful blend of the lesser-known tales from Arabian Nights with the recurring theme of how the magic of storytelling holds the power to change people. The final scene brings the audience back to a modern day Baghdad with the wail of air raid sirens threatening the rich culture and history that are embodied by these tales.
