Happy Lunar New Year! Please join us on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 during 12:30-2:30 PM to celebrate the Lunar New Year! 2023 is the Year of Cat in Vietnam and the Year of Rabbit in other countries celebrating Lunar New Year.

  • At 12:00 PM, there will be food, snacks, origami, and calligraphy stations hosted by International Education Department, Chinese Culture Club, Taiwanese Student Association, and Mahjong Club in PUB Main Dining Room.
    At 1:10 PM, we will have students singing on the stage.
    At 1:30 PM, we will introduce Asian & Pacific Islander Student Center followed with a Lion Dance performance!

You can follow the Lion Dance performers to our API Student Center in Room 1305 for more food and a Lion Dance Workshop during 2-2:30 PM.

State Board set to hear 7 bachelor’s degree statements of need

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges at its regular meeting Thursday, Feb. 2 will hear bachelor’s degree program statements of need from seven colleges. The programs are:

Also on the agenda is an update on the 2023 legislative session, including an overview of bills that would impact the community and technical college system.

Rep. Vandana Slatter, chair of the House Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee, is scheduled to speak with the board at its Wednesday study session. Members will also hear from Mike Meotti, executive director of the Washington Student Achievement Council, on FAFSA and WASFA outreach and completion initiatives.

The regular meeting is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. The study session will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The meetings are open to the public and will be held at the State Board office, 1300 Quince St. SE in Olympia. The meeting agenda and background materials are posted on the State Board’s website.

Introduction to Title IX 2/21 3-4pm

All new employees are required to complete training on Title IX, the Federal law that prohibits gender discrimination and sexual misconduct in educational programs. In this session, we’ll discuss your rights and responsibilities under Title IX and review Shoreline’s reporting and response procedures.
