Switch Your Trips (SYT) promotion has officially begun! It’s the perfect time to try a new way to get around.

Complete and log at least ten trips during October and you will be automatically entered in a drawing for the chance to win some amazing prizes—modes include carpool, vanpool, bus, train, light rail, ferry, bicycle/eBike, walking, scooter, skateboarding, or a combination of all modes.

Rewards include a $1,500 Cash Prize, $500 – plus numerous other gift card prizes.

All-Campus Fire Drill, Thursday, 10/2

We have an All-Campus Fire Drill this Thursday, October 2nd. During the drill, all students, staff, faculty, and visitors are required to evacuate from all campus buildings and assemble in the designated evacuation areas (shown on map below). The alarms will activate to begin the drill. Campus Security personnel and Building Marshals will assist at evacuation points and provide directional information. Participation is mandatory if you are on campus.

The evacuation locations are designated by a white sign with red lettering reading “Emergency Evacuation Point” along the perimeter of campus (see photo below).

Individuals evacuating buildings should proceed to the evacuation site closest to their location ( see map below, evacuation sites marked by “X”)

Everyone must immediately evacuate, in a calm and controlled manner.

Do not attempt to re-enter buildings until authorized to do so by Campus Security personnel or a Building Marshal.

 We do our best to limit disruptions to campus operations and classes, but there is no one-size-fits all for perfect timing for emergency drills. If you have any questions (besides the exact time of the drill), please feel free to reach out.

Message from the President’s Office: Monitoring Federal Government Shutdown and Shoreline Impacts

Dear Campus Community, 

As I’m sure you are aware, the federal budget deadline is tonight, September 30. If Congress does not reach an agreement, the federal government will shut down beginning at 11:59pm. While we remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached, we are preparing for possible impacts on our college community. 

In past shutdowns, federal funding for colleges and students was ultimately restored, though there were sometimes temporary disruptions. At this time, Shoreline plans to continue all federally funded programs and grant activities, including Pell Grants, Federal Work Study, Basic Education for Adults (BEdA), BFET, SEOG, and Perkins.  Based on guidance from the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), we do not anticipate immediate impacts to our federally funded employees or programs. If a shutdown continues for an extended period, we may need to reassess and will update students and employees accordingly. 

It’s important to note that some students and employees could be affected in other ways, particularly those who rely on federal programs such as SNAP, WIC, or military tuition assistance. Please be mindful that some in our community may be experiencing stress or hardship during this time, and we ask that you help connect individuals to resources as needed. Fall Term ID Card Event

If you don’t have a Shoreline ID card yet, mark your calendars – our fall quarter ID card event is coming up soon!

Current students, staff, and faculty can get ID cards made October 7 – 9. Stop by the FOSS Welcome Desk (Building 5000) between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to pick up a number and get in line to take your photo! In addition to the daytime hours, we’ll also be available October 7 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Please come prepared with your ctcLink number and a Photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport).
