Campus Updates 7/31/2025

Events and News

Hello all, I hope you are doing well.

This week has been pretty rote on my end – working on evaluations, policy development, budget work, one on ones, etc. I did meet with a prospective board member with our board chair last Friday, which was really great.

Last Saturday I attended the Latino Educational Training Institute at Edmonds College. Music, food, community resources, and much celebrating of our diverse community. I even got to hang out with President Singh!  Shoreline College also had a presence at the event, and I had the privilege of observing Lizbeth Agapito & Elle Rivera Soro doing their magic, speaking with parents and families in Spanish, and connecting them to our many wonderful opportunities.  It was awesome!

We also had a productive meeting and tour with President Sabah Randhawafrom and his team from Western Washington University.  We discussed how to strengthen pathways for students who wish to study at WWU. Looking forward to next steps! Thanks to Ryan Aiello, Lianne Almughirah,  Samira Pardanani, and Lucas Rucks for leadership on this first step.

Come to think of it, this wasn’t such a rote week after all.

Hope folks are enjoying the weather and the weekend!

Cheers,

Jack

The Executive Team (ET) is now scheduling and holding virtual open office time via Microsoft Bookings:

Committee Updates:

College Council Updates

Following review by College Council and based on the recommendation of the Executive Team, the College has adopted the following policies and procedures:

Enrollments

  • Archives of past daily enrollment reports.

Mail Services

As operations and coverage of the Mail Services Department continues among different employees, we need your help as we adjust our mail and package handling and delivery procedures.

To help complete our mission to timely send and receive interoffice mail, USPS mail, and other carrier packages, please pick up and drop off your items at the Mail Services Office (Room 9100) located at the external loading dock on the ground floor of the PUB 9000 Building. Please do not come to the interior door as the noise levels inside cover up door knocking sounds.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact Joe Mazur, Kimberlee Clark, Aimee Henson, or Gayla Hocker.

Technology Support Services (TSS)

Summer Surplus and eWaste Initiative Update: Work progresses to remove and responsibly dispose of outdated equipment across campus. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out to identify surplus items and help coordinate pickups. Your support in this endeavor has been invaluable.

We are in the final stages of the project, reporting item quantities to the State, and scheduling final pickup appointments. As a result, TSS will temporarily pause any new surplus pickup requests until the current phase is complete.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Facilities and Capital Projects

Facility Work Orders: Are you having an issue with room temperatures, lights, custodial, or other facilities issues?  Here’s the link to enter a Facilities work order on the Megamation site.  If you need them, here are the instructions to enter a Megamation work order.

Foundation

The inaugural meeting of the Shoreline College Alumni Steering Committee is Monday, August 4. This group of Alumni, who live and work in our community, will help advance a key priority of the College’s Strategic Plan: build a strong, connected alumni network. Members will shape alumni programming, expand engagement, and serve as ambassadors to the broader Shoreline community. The Committee will also collaborate with the Advancement Council to align alumni efforts with Shoreline’s fundraising, outreach, and strategic initiatives.

The Foundation Office will be closed on August 7 and 8 so staff can virtually attend the Washington Advancement and Foundation Leaders (WAFL) training and conference. WAFL is an organization made up of Washington State Community and Technical College foundation and advancement staff. Topics this year are focused on helping foundation staff understand the quickly changing landscape around nonprofit tax law, ensuring equity in scholarship programs, and WA nonprofits and charities registration compliance.
