Mon., Oct. 16

College Rep. Visit – Antioch University Seattle: Table in the PUB Lobby
Mon., Oct. 16: 11am-1pm
College representatives will be on Shoreline’s campus to meet with interested students. Reps will discuss topics such as academic programs, campus life, financial aid, and admission procedures for their college. They can answer other questions students may have too.

What is it like to attend Medical School? Curious about living in the Caribbean for two years? ROSS has 40 years experience training physicians and has clinical sites in the USA.

Transfer 102 workshop: PUB 9208
Wed., Oct. 18: 3-4pm
Transfer 102 is intended for second-year students who are ready to begin applying to transfer. Getting organized, where to start, refining the list, application systems, and more will be discussed!

Thurs., Oct. 19

Happy Hour with Mocktails: PUB Courtyard (inside 9208 if inclement weather)

The Counseling Center, in honor of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, will host Happy Hour outside in the main PUB courtyard (or inside in the PUB, 9208 if inclement weather), on Thursday, October 19 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Students and employees are invited to enjoy FREE non-alcoholic beverages as well as receive information about how alcohol may impact our bodies and how we can drink more safely!

Additionally, officers from Shoreline Police Department will conduct field sobriety testing using vision impairment goggles.

Local Action/Global Impact: PUB 9208
Thurs., Oct. 19: 7-8:30pm
Speaker Marilyn Strickland, Mayor of Tacoma
The phrase “think global, act local” is a call to arms of local activists. It is probably most strongly associated with environmental issues, but has been applied as well in many other policy realms including trade, immigration, transportation, healthcare, and education. Mayor Marilyn Strickland argues that there has been a shift from national to local governments, such as Tacoma, in seeking progress on these issues.

Zak Helenske, the potter behind Slipware, the current show in the Shoreline Community College art gallery (1000 bldg), will lead students in a free ceramics workshop. Reserve your spot by rsvp’ing to Claire Putney at: cputney@shoreline.edu

Zak Helenske is a potter who is interested in the development of form and the exploration of pattern, referencing architectural situations and social observations. He uses geometry as a language to communicate ideas of space, proximity, occupation, and structure.

Sat., Oct. 21

Shoreline Coop Preschool Carnival: PUB Main Dining Room

Shoreline Cooperative Preschool is proud to be hosting our 30th Annual Halloween Carnival and Silent Auction!

Bring your kiddos in costume to enjoy games and entertainment designed for ages 1 to 8 and fun for the whole family. Free admission and carnival game tickets are only 4 for $1.

Join us at the silent auction this year to bid on goods and services from local restaurants, arts organizations, museums, sports teams, unique handmade arts and crafts, and priceless experiences! It is an indoor event, so come rain or shine!

Sat., Oct. 21: 12-4:15pm
Women’s and men’s soccer play at home against Edmonds. Women play at noon, men take the field at 2:15pm. Come cheer on our Phins at home!

Zak Helenske Artist’s Reception – Slipware: 1000 Bldg. Lobby
Sat., Oct. 21: 5-7pm
MEET THE ARTIST! Reception for Zak Helenske, creator of the Slipware exhibit currently showing in the Shoreline Community College Art Gallery in the Building 1000 lobby.

Zak Helenske is a potter who is interested in the development of form and the exploration of pattern, referencing architectural situations and social observations. He uses geometry as a language to communicate ideas of space, proximity, occupation, and structure.

Pots are some of the objects that connect us across cultures and across time. Helenske is interested in the anti-monumental and challenged by the spatial balance between pottery, architecture, and community.
