Jennifer Coogan is the Associate Dean of Advising at Shoreline Community College.

Please join us in welcoming (better late than never!) Jennifer Coogan, who began her role as the Associate Dean of Advising at Shoreline Community College in March 2015.

Coogan earned a M.Ed. in Reading from University of Maryland in 2011, a M.A. in Community Counseling from Marist College in 2001, and a B.A. in Psychology from Marist College in 2000.

For most of her professional career, Coogan served as an academic advisor in TRiO Programs, or similar programs, at various higher education institutions on the east coast, including University of Maryland. Most recently, Coogan was a TRiO Advisor and the English Lead of The Learning Lab at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, Washington. She has also worked as an English instructor at Northern Virginia Community College, a research associate at ASAE, and a project lead on several U.S. government grants including school dropout prevention initiatives.

Two years ago, Coogan moved to Washington from Virginia with her husband, Steve, and dog, Murphy. They were looking for a change of pace and are very happy to have settled in the Seattle area.

“In the past three months, I’ve met wonderful faculty and staff who have recapped the history of Shoreline but also envisioned where the college could be in the future,” said Coogan. “This is an exciting time to be a part of the Shoreline community.”
