Open Enrollment is a Great Time to Check Your Beneficiaries

Check your beneficiaries

The PEBB Program’s annual open enrollment (November 1 through 30) is a good time to check your beneficiary information for your PEBB life insurance and health savings account (HSA) if you have one. Not only is it important to make sure you have the right person (or people) listed, but that all contact information is up to date.

It is also a good idea to check your beneficiaries for other insurance or financial accounts (such has retirement savings) if you have them.

To check your current beneficiaries and make changes:

Life Insurance – Log in to MetLife’s MyBenefits portal. On your profile page, click Group Life Insurance, then click the Beneficiaries tab. You can also call MetLife at 1-866-548-7139 to request a Group Term Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation form.

Health Savings Account (HSA) – If you have an HSA, you can complete the Beneficiary Designation form or log in to your HealthEquity account and select Beneficiaries located under the My Account tab.

November Open Enrollment – PEBB Medical Benefits

To Employees receiving PEBB Benefits: PEBB Medical Flexible Spending Arrangement (FSA) and Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP)

If you wish to enroll in or continue your Medical FSA and/or DCAP, open enrollment is the time to do it. Remember, if you are currently enrolled in the Medical FSA and/or DCAP, you must reenroll each year to continue, even if you don’t wish to change your contribution amount(s). You must enroll or reenroll no later than November 30th for the January 1, 2016 coverage year.

The Medical FSA allows you to:

Set aside part of your paycheck, before taxes, to cover qualified medical expenses for you and your family members.

You may set aside as little as $240 or as much as $2,500 during 2016, which will be deducted from each paycheck in equal installments.

When you have qualified medical expenses, you may pay them with a Medical FSA debit card or submit claims for reimbursement.

The DCAP allows you to:

Set aside part of your paycheck, before taxes, for child or elder care expenses.

You may set aside up to $5,000 per household ($2,500 each if married and filing separate tax returns) which will be deducted in equal amounts from each paycheck.

When you incur child or elder care expenses, submit the claims for reimbursement.
