Since the 1970s, the 800 Building has been the heart of music education at Shoreline – where thousands of students dreamed, practiced, and stepped into their futures as Musicians, Audio Engineers, Music Producers, and more.

In 2026, the Music Department will move into the new, purpose-built Bracken Building.

Join us for a celebration of memories as we say goodbye to 800 and look forward to our future in the BRACKEN BUILDING!

Trauma-Informed Training: Building Supportive and Inclusive Learning Environments

Transitional Studies invites all faculty, staff, and administrators to join us for an engaging Trauma-Informed Training with Dr. Michele Andrasik. This professional development opportunity is open to all, but especially relevant for faculty who want to deepen their understanding of how trauma affects learning and student engagement.

Understanding trauma and its impact is essential to fostering classrooms where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to succeed—both academically and personally.

During this session, we’ll explore the importance of trauma-informed care in higher education and discuss practical strategies for integrating these principles into teaching and campus interactions.

About the Trainer

Dr. Michele Andrasik is a leading expert in addressing psychosocial and structural factors contributing to health disparities among marginalized communities. She serves as Lead Behavioral Scientist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington. Dr. Andrasik’s work centers on reducing stigma and improving health outcomes through community-based research and trauma-informed practices.

With a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Miami, Dr. Andrasik brings a wealth of experience from her background in community health, psychology, and higher education—including directing AIDS services in New York City prior to her academic career.
