Guest Lecture: Contemporary Bosnia and Herzegovina: State Structures and Human Stories

Visiting Hubert Humphrey Fellow, Bojana Ilic, will present on Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has one of the most complicated political and legal systems in the world — with 5 Presidents sharing leadership! The presentation examines the institutional and political systems of contemporary Bosnia and Herzegovina nearly three decades after the Dayton Peace Agreement, while placing emphasis on the lived experiences of its’ citizens within those structures. Ms. Ilic will highlight the resilience, peacebuilding efforts, and ongoing realities facing refugees and returnees.

Spring Term ID Card Event

If you don’t have a Shoreline ID card yet, mark your calendars – our spring quarter ID card event is coming up soon!

Current students, staff, and faculty can get ID cards made April 21-23. Stop by the FOSS Welcome Desk (Building 5000) between 8:30am – 4:30pm to pick up a number and get in line to take your photo! In addition to the daytime hours, we’ll also be available April 21 from 5pm – 7pm.

Please come prepared with your ctcLink number and a Photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport).

Our Grandmother the Inlet

This short film sheds light on the mental health challenges faced by Indigenous youth and the enduring spirit to reclaim their connection to culture, water, and land.

Afterward, we will have an opportunity to discuss the film with the directors and continue to grow our own understanding of what our Native students experience.

We invite guests to enjoy light refreshments after the screening. 

Earth Week Fair

Celebrate Earth Week with us! We will host several community partners, provide snacks and giveaways, and feature a hybrid car in partnership with Automotive, as well as a roundabout simulator brought to us by The City of Shoreline.

During the fair, we invite the campus community to participate in creating mosaic art pieces from recycled items or materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill. You are welcome to bring your items with you or drop them off at the Student Life Office (PUB 9301) ahead of the event. Please refer to the suggested list of items you can add to the canvas and those we discourage bringing. 

Materials to collect for the Mosaic Art: Bottle Caps, Soda Tabs, Paperclips, Buttons, Pens, Small toys, Cardboard, Paper, Pebbles, Shells, Marbles, FULL CDS ONLY, Coins, Bubble wrap, Packing peanuts, and any other materials that would end up in trash.  

Things we discourage: NO Sharp objects, NO broken CDs, glass, or ceramics, NO Batteries, NO perishable items, or Used food and drink containers.

Earth Week Events

Celebrate Earth Week with us April 21-23. 

  • Stop by the fair on Tuesday, 4/21, from 12-2 in the PUB courtyard. 
  • On Wednesday, 4/22, take a walk with Prof. Loper to learn about plants at 11:30 am, and join the Gardening Club workshop at 3 pm.
  • On Thursday, 4/23, build your own Terrarium with Student Life from 12-2 in the Quiet Dining Room, and stop by the Short Film Screening (where light refreshments will be served) in the Theater at 5:30 pm to close out the week.
