Forest Bathing

Improve your well-being through immersion in nature with certified guide Mileva Huljev. This experience will guide you through a sequence of open-ended invitations to slow down, and use your senses to interact with the natural world. There is no expectation for what participants should experience or receive, though reduced stress is common, as well as improved creativity, a sense of calm and stillness while also feeling more alive. This is not a hike or meditation, but best described as a slow meander of less than a mile. This experience is ideal for persons older than 12, and who are comfortable traveling on uneven, unpaved terrain; though with notice, we can easily adapt for anyone with more limited mobility (fatigue, uneven gait, use of walker or cane). The class will take place in Boeing Creek Park, Shoreline

Mileva Huljev is a certified guide through the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy, with specific training in supporting people to improve their wellbeing by engaging with the natural world. This has been the foundation of a 16+ year career as an outdoor educator; facilitating experiences for folx to connect with Nature, in more broad and inclusive ways. .  https://www.forestbathingfinder.com/guide-profile/humannature/

Girl Scout Stem Day Report- A Great Success!

SCC’s first ever Girl Scout STEM Exploration Day brought 96 scouts to campus. They were exposed to Automotive, Manufacturing, Biology, Biotech, Computer Science, and Physics. Each group of Scouts visited 4 50 minutes sessions. They kicked of in the main dining room and went to their morning sessions. They retuned for pizza lunch generously provided by the Foundation. After finishing 2 afternoon sessions, Scouts met back at the main dining room, enjoyed snacks, sang the Girl Scout Anthem, and received their patches! Upon returning from the afternoon sessions, more than one asked what was next and when told it was closing ceremonies showed the first and only disappointment of the day. The idea for the camp was the result of a casual lunch time conversation between Amber and Wanda and manifested into an amazing event!
