Athletics Update- Welcome to our new Softball Coaches!

Crystelle Fischer- Women’s Softball Head Coach

The Athletics Department would like to welcome Crystelle Fischer as our new Women’s Softball Head Coach.  A former Dolphins alumnus, she played for Shoreline in 2001.  With over 16 years of coaching experience at the select and high school level, she brings a wealth of softball knowledge to Shoreline’s program.  Please join us as we welcome Coach Fischer back to the Phin family.

Heidi Aarestad- Women’s Softball Assistant Coach

We are excited to announce that Heidi Aarestad, former women’s softball player for the Dolphins in 2001, has agreed to be our new Women’s Softball Assistant Coach.  Aarestad has a passion for coaching and brings several years of experience working with youth softball and basketball.  We are thrilled to have Aarestad back in the Phin pod!

Introducing Jason Brandon- New Executive Director of TSS

We are excited to announce that we have hired Jason Brandon to be the new Executive Director of Technology Support Services (TSS). His first day will be Monday April 24, 2023. 

Originally from Cincinnati, OH, Jason attended the University of Louisville where he played collegiate baseball and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He began his IT career as a Systems Engineer for Brown and Williamson, and later relocated to Miami, FL where he earned a master’s degree in computer science from Nova Southeastern University.  

Previously, Jason was the Chief Information Officer for Sunrise Community Inc, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities across eight states on the East Coast. With over 20+ years of experience, his expertise lies in leading IT teams to implement scalable, reliable, and complex systems to support the organizations’ needs, while maintaining a focus on superior customer service.  

In his spare time, he is an avid sports fan, and a runner who has completed two half marathons.

Meet the New Faces of Learning Resources- Welcome!

Learning Resources has added two new permanent hires since April started. Welcome and Welcome again to:

Amy Rovner, Director of eLearning

This is a color head shot for Amy Rovner.

Amy Rovner began her career at Shoreline in 2011 as part-time faculty teaching Nutrition 101. When Shoreline switched to Canvas in 2013, she quickly took to the it and was happy to support other faculty with the transition when she was selected as eLearning Faculty-in-Residence. That position led to becoming an eLearning Instructional Designer the following year. Amy has filled in as “Acting Director” of eLearning Services twice in the recent past when campus needed her to backfill. She is excited to continue working with the eLearning team to support our online and hybrid students and faculty. When not working, you can find Amy hanging out with her family, playing with Bobo her COVID pup and hiking, camping and backpacking in our beautiful Pacific NW.

Jeff Janosik, Director of Student Learning Center

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jeff has been living in the Seattle area since 2011. He has a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, an MA in English from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and is currently writing his dissertation, on nineteenth-century British fiction and economics, for a PhD at the University of Washington. Jeff has taught English composition, technical writing, and literature at UW Milwaukee, UW Seattle, Highline Community College, Everett Community College, and North Seattle College, where he was also English department coordinator for the Page One Writing Center. In his scant free time, Jeff enjoys cooking, skiing, and music.

Classified and Hourly/Student Employees:  

   Timesheets:

  • Timesheets must be completed by end of shift, Friday 3/31/2023.
  • Supervisor must approve timesheets no later than 10am, Monday  4/1/2023.  

Hourly/Student: Please submit your timesheet by end of shift Friday,  3/31/2023.

  • Please be sure to use the correct Time Reporting Code for your position
    • HRY for non-student hourly employees
    • STU for student hourly employees enrolled in 6 or more credits
    • STF for student hourly employees enrolled in less than 6 credits
    • FWS for federal work-study students
    • SWS for state work-study students

Classified: Please submit your timesheet by end of shift Friday,  3/31/2023.

  • Did you take leave during this last pay period?  Be sure to adjust your REG hours on your timesheet to reflect what hours you worked and were on leave.
  • Make sure each week equals your work schedule; 100% employee, then you should have a minimum of 40 hours posted between REG and any leave, 75% employee, then you should have a minimum of 30 hours posted between REG and any leave.  This includes any Leave without Pay posted.
  • Overtime to be charged to a budget other than the employees normal budget, please email the  combo code (not the chart string) to payroll@shoreline.edu
  • Did you work overtime and take leave in the same week?  Please email payroll@shoreline.edu until further notice.

Faculty: Please be sure to submit your sick leave through the absence management system, by the date listed above. You do not need to submit a timesheet.

Admin Exempt: Please be sure to submit your leave through the absence management system, by the date listed above. You do not need to submit a timesheet.
