One World, Many Songs: Dr. Fred Lokken’s final performance as Choral Director on Wed., June 8

Please join us on Wed., June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Richmond Beach for the final Shoreline Community College Choir Concert of the year. The Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers will perform choral music from Austria, England, Syria, America, and more.

This will also be Dr. Fred Lokken’s farewell concert as Director of Choral Music at the college. After 18 years of teaching and conducting at Shoreline Community College, Fred is stepping down as choir director.

Alumni of the Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers have been invited to perform with the current choirs in two encore pieces under Dr. Lokken’s direction. The Shoreline Singers will perform this Saturday and Sunday with the Bellevue Chamber Chorus at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue.

Let your spirit soar with stirring music of hope, faith and inspiration from both sacred and secular traditions. Featuring the stunning “Dark Night of the Soul” for chorus, piano and string quartet by contemporary Norwegian/American composer Ola Gjeilo, the varied program also contains the early Baroque masterpiece “Die mit Tränen säen” by Johann Schein, Eric Barnum’s sublime and meditative “Dawn,” the rousing Gospel powerhouse “John the Revelator” arranged by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory and much more. Don’t miss this uplifting musical experience!
