The International Education department seeks short-term, study abroad /study away proposals

The International Education department seeks short-term, study abroad /study away proposals from Shoreline Community College faculty.  Shoreline Summer Institutes, scheduled between spring and fall quarters, provide students with an affordable and structured study abroad/away option. The newly developed program will travel with a small group of students for 9-10 days in the summer of 2024.

Please email cferguson@shoreline.edu for more details about this mini-grant opportunity.  Applications are due on Jan. 31, 2023.

Faculty are invited to a meeting to discuss ideas and ask questions regarding teaching abroad opportunities and this mini-grant on Monday, November 14 at 1:30pm in the Quiet Dining Room (9208).

Please email cferguson@shoreline.edu with questions, and/or to schedule a meeting on a different date.

Clothing Drive SASA 2015: The Children of Langbos South Africa

Clothing and shoes contributions can be made from now up until August 14 for young people served by the South African care center found here and here.

The South Africa Study Abroad (SASA) summer 2015 program, now consisting of a total of 15 Shoreline students and former students, has established a connection with the children being served by the care center since first visiting them in 2003. We are collecting clothing items and shoes, which we will carry in our luggage so as to give to these deserving children (some of whom are teenagers) when we visit them between August 25-27. As they are at the end of winter, Langbos Care Center has made specific requests for warm clothing (jump or jogging suits in particular) for the youngsters of all ages and anything stylish for the teenagers.

Anyone interested in donating items (new or like-new) can drop them off in the barrels identified in common areas around campus with the label: Clothing Drive SASA 2015: The Children of Langbos South Africa.

Clothing donations can be picked up from your office and other locations by contacting Dr. Ernest Johnson directly via e-mail at ejohnson@shoreline.edu with the subject heading: The Children of Langbos Donations.
