For all of those who want to be Indiana Jones for a day, or those that just love learning, check out archeology day at the Burke Museum on Saturday, Jan. 4, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Join the Burke Museum for a special, one day-only annual event of activities that explore the past and present, including archaeology exhibits, hands-on activities, and conversations with specialists. Here are a few things you will be able to do:
• Examine ancient Peruvian textiles from the Burke’s archaeology collection
• Get close to unique artifacts found in our very own Puget Sound region
• Try your hand at the ancient hunting skill of atlatl throwing
• Take part in hands-on archaeology themed crafts
• Talk with Roman reenactors about what life was like for warriors in ancient Rome
• Talk about shipwrecks in Lake Union with The Center for Wooden Boats
• Discover how to make projectile points and archaeology-themed crafts
