Office of Student Learning & Success brainstorming session

Greetings from the Office of Student Learning & Success,

I hope you will be available to join us for a lively brainstorming session on May 24
th, 2018 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the PUB Quiet Dining Room to discuss future directions for Shoreline’s lecture programs and series. We want to learn from you about what kinds of gatherings, presentations, and learning experiences you think Shoreline is known for, and might want to provide more of, as well as how we might organize our events and activities to best further our strategic plan and move our work forward on the 3 “E’s.”

The conversation will address how we can create intentional experiences for our students, employees, and the diverse communities we serve, and create structures that can effectively sustain these efforts. We will build on the work of the Global Affairs Center and Equity and Social Justice lectures and trainings, but will also include other offerings Shoreline provides to our communities, such as Student Life’s Margin to Center and the Parent Ed Lecture Series.

The conversation is intended as a beginning, and a true brainstorm – all ideas are welcome, including ideas that build on the other ideas that come up as we discuss! The goal is to start to frame a cohesive programming plan that can evolve and grow based on our college’s strategic work. We would like to consider the various types of resources that are currently used for our lecture and presentation series and how we might best allocate those resources. The discussion could also touch on the intersection with our curriculum and how we might approach a multi-year progression of events and activities, building upon each other.

I look forward to seeing you at our brainstorm! If you are unable to attend but interested, please let me know – we may set up a second day and time to accommodate as many people as possible in this first conversation.
